LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Big night, big crowd! The cheers went up early as the crowd found out that Bruiser will be missing for 3 weeks. Sally of "Ladies Night Out" was upset when that news broke. She decided she was going off to Florida rather than suffer here without her boytoy Bruiser. All that means is that she and Pam will now be fighting for Bruiser. So, as we go on with the show, 126 people on 16 teams showed up. It felt like some kind of holiday was taking place. We welcomed home from various Universities the former stars of the PA State Champion Penn Manor High School Quiz Bowl Team and Supreme Court Justice Sam Mecum. The "Bar Ks" Jack was hunting, AGAIN, "Off Duty" had MORE visitors from jolly old England (didn't help them) and Dawn and her "Just the 18th" crew decided to boycott the show for one week (something about seating the week before). Meanwhile, the "Stupid MOFOS" continued their winning ways with their 2nd straight beatdown of all challengers. Even the 2nd place "Out of the Vortex" (Margie had to keep waking her teammates up.....ventilator problems) was amazed at how easily the 'MOFOs took control and I now know why. The 'MOFOs have apparently had a revolution of sorts and the bombastic Joyce has been voted off the island by her teammates. Even hubby Rick acknowledged that it was going to her head. The change, however, might prove to be worse than before. Sources tell me that the new chief "loon"atic is Tracy. Her husband, Matt, was applauding the news out in the parking lot after the show when Lisa came up behind him and smacked him in the head with a railroad tie. Why she had one is still a mystery. Lisa wanted to be the new Queen Nutjob but Tracy paid people off. Look out this week when they won't have the very young Shannon to help them out. Tied for 3rd place last week was "R&R" along with the "Kids R Home". The Walton crew, yep John Boy lives, finally cracked the top 3 with the help of invited ringers. And.....a big welcome back to Christine who tried as best she could to help out the Geritol (Steroid Juiced) bunch from "Thorns-N-Roses" and a grand welcome to Brian and his gang from the Barn Door (Yes, Hello Melanie), who called themselves "Wait, This Isn't The Barn Door". Joining them out in the lobby was our newest team..."The Better Half". Their head-whench, Barb, finally made it back out after she disappeared for 4 weeks. Thanks to all of you for continuing to support this show so enthusiastically as am about to begin my 7th year here at Crossgates. I hope all of you have a safe and enjoyable New Years Eve.

Upcoming Mini-categories will be:

January 3rd: Marilyn Monroe
January 10th: Agatha Christie

WELCOME TO THE
BILLY WARMTH TRIVIA SHOW

An Anniversary Of Sorts
History of Trivia In Lancaster

Back in the fall of 1994 I met a guy known as Curtis Earth. Curtis worked for Keller Brothers Ford but his passion was music and meeting people. You see, Curtis was also a professional DJ in his spare time who also happened to host the only, at that time, trivia show in the area. Margie and I heard of Curtis through the former owners of the Timberline Lodges south of Strasburg. They and some family members frequented his show at the Holiday Inn East and called themselves "Team Timberline". Yeah, they were a clever bunch. It seems they had an arch nemesis team called "G-Man and Company" that they had trouble beating. Kinda like you guys have today with "Out of the Vortex". Well, they invited us to play on their team to give them a shot at the victory circle. They knew Margie was the smart one, I was just filler. Margie and I eventually split off to form "Out of the Vortex" and for many years we followed Curtis' shows to places like Bubes Brewery, Lancaster Malt Brewery, the Rawhide Saloon, Doc Hollidays, Marion Court, the General Sutter, the Blue Star Hotel, the Elizabethtown Inn and I am sure there were a few I forgot. He even had an all Simpsons trivia show on Sunday nights at the old Zoetropolois Theater on West Lemon Street that was eventually hosted by the duo of Mike Horn and Chris Weaver, aka Hutz & McClure. Well, in 2001 Curtis made a decision to move to Florida to be close to his young kids and family and he searched for hosts to take over his shows that he had built here. Mike Horn, our web'mike'ster, took over his show at Bubes Brewery on Tuesday nights and that show is still going gangbusters today. His Thursday night show was, at that time, at Tobias Frogg on Columbia Avenue. After going thru an exhaustive search for a replacement host at the Frogg I asked him why he hadn't considered me and he said "But Bill, you and Marge like playing so much I never thought you would want to do that." Well, I was, in fact, interested and, just to get the crowd used to me, I started doing Curtis' 2nd rounds in November of 2001 in preparation for his leaving for Florida. He began by introducing me as Billy Warmth. I hated it but it stuck. that brings us to today, an anniversary of sorts. It was December 23rd, 2001 that Curtis moved to Florida and began his trivia empire in Orlando and what an empire it has become. If you have never been to the website you are missing out on alot of cool stuff.
www.earthtrivia.com
So, the week between Christmas and New Years was to be my first hosting of a complete show. It was on that Thursday that the owners at Tobias Frogg called and told me that they were cancelling all entertainment because thay were planning on doing some renovations in early 2002. Yeah, it seemed odd to me at the time but.....Now what do I do. Here I was, the new host of a trivia show that had built a loyal following and now they had nowhere to go. With the help of Mike Horn we got out messages as quickly as possible to as many people as we could that the show had been cancelled and that we were going to gather for a non-prize show at LMB just to keep the show going. About 30 people actually came out and that was quite a surprise. I now had to find a new venue for the Thursday night group. Well, we found our new home at Caseys Clubhouse @ Crossgates (now called Celis @ Crossgates) the very next week. It was now the first week of 2002 and we started out with about 35 people coming out. Today, as I am about to begin my 7th year doing the show at Crossgates and the Barn Door show has moved into it's 3rd year, there aren't enough words to say how I feel about your continued fantastic support for these shows. A special thank you goes out to Curtis Earth for giving me the opportunity to have this much fun. Thanks again and I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas. Happy Kwanza, Happy Mars Rover and whatever other holiday you may be celebrating.

Last Week's Blurbage

Our final show of 2007 here at the Barn Door was a new experience. Although the dining rooms were not as full as usual there wasn't a seat to be had at the bar and this is a big bar. The "J-Men" finally took home the 1st place prize as they took down "Out of the Vortex" and the "Wacky Corner" who tied for 2nd place. "Ho, Ho, Holy Sh?t It's Christmas" finished 4th and the Katie inspired "Just Dumb Luck" finished 5th. Katie wasn't impressed with her brother Adam who she claims just isn't much help lately. Grampa Bob seemed to agree with that in between his naps. The snakebit "KKC" (Kim, Karen and Cori) had one of their best final rounds ever but still couldn't climb out of the basement. Hey Karen.....It's Cori's fault! Because of the Eves our show at the Barn Door will return on January 7th. I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

While Dawn had a panic attack about seating, the U S Congress is about to open up an investigation at Crossgates. The size of the teams is growing at steroid like levels. The "Stupid MOFOs" are apparently the target as they have nearly tripled in size in just a few short weeks. Their drug induced state has also produced winning results as they CRUSHED "Off Duty" and "Out of the Vortex" last Thursday night. Even "Crimson Tide" was mistified as they had one of their best scoring nights in recent memory (thanks to Kevin and the stunning Elisabeth being home from school) but they could only manage 5th place. Elisabeth was apparently struggling with her time at home running tangent to my show. Even "Thorns-n-Roses" managed another good night with a 4th place finish. That alone sparked complaints from the 'MOFOs Joyce that she thought their Geritol might be juiced. Joyce, the queen of WooHoo also, once again, threatened to unplug the ventilators of "Out of the Vortex". She really is a loon and her husband agrees. Speaking of the 'MOFOs, welcome to Melba, Lisa, Chris and the lovely Shannon. To Matt and Tracy, well......... I hope all of you have the merriest of Christmas' and I will see you guys on Thursday night.

Last Week's Blurbage

As the crowd continues it's return to what we call normal around here we are nearing the Barn Door's shutdown week for Christmas and New years. "Out of the Vortex" went absolutely nuts last week with an 80 point night and a 14 poit victory over Brian, Kim, Bill and Kristina, also known last Monday as "We Love Rambo". The "Wacky Corner" was well back in 3rd place another 7 points farther behind. Left crying in there milk were the "J-Men" and "Just Dumb Luck" who found themselves tied for 4th place just 1 point out of the money. I repeat that, just 1 point out of the money. For "Just Dumb Luck" it was a disastrous 1st round that cost them 3rd place, Katie said it was her brother Adam's fault, and for the "J-Men" it was the 3rd round. Quite surprisingly, "Lionel Richie" was, once again, a no show. Carrie claims it has something to do with getting grades in for the semester. Hey, isn't Sean allowed out by himself or is it that he can't handle the pressure.....and.....what kind of excuse can Ben and Beth possibly have. As for the "Wacky Corner", they had nearly the whole bar surrounded. Let's go Stephanie, pick it up girl.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Well, we dodged a bullet last Thursday with the weather. the forecast didn't look good for a while then everyone realized that it was just another hiccup by Stupid Doppler 8 and all we had was a rain event, kinda like last night. To the cheers of everyone, "Out of the Vortex" took it on the chin again but they still managed to finish 3rd. It has now been 6 weeks since the'Vortex has won. The shock of the century came when "Just the 18th" ran away from 2nd place "R&R" for a 5 point win. It was the '18th's first victory EVER and Dawn loved every minute of it. Yes, Squeeky's team actually won, you did not misread that. The disappointment came from the 4th place teams of "Ladies Night Out" and the "Stupif MOFOs" who finished 1 point behind 'Vortex in 4th place. and "Off Duty" was just 1 point further back in 6th place. The 'MOFOs Joyce has once again threatened legal action to have the'Vortex's ventilators unplugged and have them declared a nuisance. Joyce's team really doesn't care where they finish as long as it is in front of the 'Vortex. For those teams that finished just behind the 'Vortex it was a disastrous 1st round that cost them the chance at finishing in the money.

Last Week's Blurbage

Well, a slight improvement in attendance last week with 11 teams and about 55 of you and that was quite surprising, even if "Lionel Richie" was once again somehow unable to come out. And "Cowbell"; where have they gone. In a way that is good for the "Wacky Corner", less competition for 3rd place. But wait just one minute. What is that I hear. "Wacky Corner" tied "Out of the Vortex" for 1st place last week. Yes it's true. The'Corner held on for that historic tie while the "J-Men"had to hold off "Swede Mother of Jesus" (Sweden was the mini-category) for 3rd place. The same 3 teams have finished in the top 3 for 3 consecutive weeks now. There was a near riot when the "Wacky Corner" also won both of the final widely sought after Wacky Raffle gifts. The 4 pound tin of Dansk Butter Cookies had most teams salivating heavily. "Just Dumb Luck's" Katie even offered me a very interesting favor for the cookies. They are very popular and I will have them again this Monday night. See you at the show.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

It was a very special night last Thursday here at Crossgates. For the second time in less than a month we had an engagement at one of my shows. This time it was the "Fighting Mongooses" as Scott got down on his knee and proposed to the lovely Jess. She, of course, said yes. You should see this ring. Stunning! Another surprise was trivia virgin Courtney for the "Stupid MOFOs". She is apparently very bright and the perfect foil for the 'MOFOs self proclaimed leader Joyce. Of course Tracy was nowhere in sight. She actually scheduled a Jewelry party on trivia night. How insulting. As for the show, The 'Stupid MOFOs", thanks in large part to Courtney, had a perfect final round and came from behind to slip by "Off Duty". The "Bar Ks" FINALLY returned to the top 3 and I have now figure out the weak spot. It isn't "lost in the woods" Jack. The person missing last Thursday, in addition to Jack, was his lovely wife Karen. Hmmmm! And HEY, "Just the 18th" what happened again. Also missing was the entire "Ladies Night Out" team. Hey Pam, come back. Oh yeah, I didn't want to forget to mention that "Out of the Vortex" got hammered for the 3rd week in a row. The crowd erupted in cheers at that news. Bob wasn't amused. Last Week's Blurbage

It seems as if we have undergone the post tournament blues here at the Barn Door as the crowd level has gone back to our opening days 2 years ago to about 45 people. That's okay but I know we can do better. Last week we had 9 teams and "Out of the Vortex" showed why they are the reigning champs. The 'Vortex was near perfect with an 80 point night. the only thing that tripped them up was Lightning McQueen from the movie cars which they wrote as "Speed" McQueen. They were that close to perfect. The "Wacky Corner, without Chad, finished in 2nd place (hmmmmmm) and the J-Men finished in 3rd place after their protest on a question about juvenile and adult frogs and toads was rejected. It was later determined that they were indeed correct and in the finest of game show traditions (compensation) they have been invited back to this weeks show. "KC" with Kim in tow this week had one of their best 3rd rounds in memory but still finished way off the pace to which Cori yelled out "bite me Billy" as she was leaving. Can't you just feel the love sometimes.

Your Upcoming Mini-categories are:

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Hey, our 1st show back after our Thanksgiving break was a huge success as we welcomed 14 teams and 115 people back to Crossgates. Some of them would like to kill me because of a disastrous picture round. Allen Ginsburg somehow morphed into Salmon Rushdie for many and Adloph Coors became John D Rockefeller. Most teams got less than 5 out of 10 and each round ended with a name the artist question that also stumped most. It was the most fun I have had in a long time. "Off Duty" took control and won by a whopping 13 points over the "Bar Ks". Once again Jack was missing and supposedly hunting. "R&R" was another 2 points back in 3rd place. The crowd went absolutely nuts when it was announced that "Out of the Vortex" finished in 4th place and out of the money. The "Stupid MOFOs" Joyce was heard shouting "take that you PhDs". Of course her team finished 6th. They would have finished much higher had they listened to teammate Lisa on a few answers. Lisa, Tracy and the vampiress (chipped her tooth) wacko Joyce were seen pulling each others hair in the lobby after the show as Rick (with a hole in his neck from where Joyce bit him) stayed inside the clubhouse watching the Cowboys beat the Packers. Joyce's daughter Erin and son Tyler just looked on in stunned amazement as mom totally lost her mind. I was assured that it was a short trip. WooHoo! How 'bout dem Cowboys!

Last Week's Blurbage

With the continued expected light night at the Barn Door last week (post tournament blues), 9 teams battled for the 3 gift certificates. I guilted "Lionel Richie" into coming out last week but the same could not be said for "Cowbell", and that still left the door open for other teams to try to get into the top spots. The much-loathed, I mean feared, "Out of the Vortex" even tried to help by having another weak night (59 points) but nobody wanted to take advantage of it. The 'Vortex swept "Wacky Corner aside with a 9 point victorywhile the "J-Men" finished another 2 points back. "Just Dumb Luck" and the "Barn Door Polo Team" were oh-so-close as they both finished with 47 points in a tie for 4th place. Brian and the newly engaged Kim and Bill were still recovering form their humiliating sloshfest on Friday night at the Barn Door. Brian was seen swinging from the rafters while dressed as a pirate..........or was that a primate while trying to encourage the ladies to play with his "parrot". You had to be there. I hope to see all of you back out Monady night.

Last Week's Blurbage

With the expected light night at the Barn Door last week, 10 teams battled for the 3 gift certificates. It was the usual drop off after the Fall tournament and with "Lionel Richie" and "Cowbell" chickening out , that left the door open for other teams to try to get into the top spots. The big question was "how well would "Out of the Vortex" do. Well, they made it 2 in a row with a 7 point victory over "This Ham Steak Makes Me Poop". Hey, I don't make these things up. I just report the facts. Well, I do make some stuff up but that is legit. Just 1 point farther back in third place was......yep......you guessed it, the "Wacky Corner". They were meant to finish 3rd and with Stephanie back from her fun in the sun 80 degree vacation she just was too spent to get them any higher. "Just Dumb Luck" finished far back in 4th place and Katie wasn't pleased. She said her brother Adam was mostly worthless and Grandpa Bob wasn't much better. Grandma and Mom were okay though. The women on that team stick together through all of the misery. Thanks to all of you for continuing to support the shows. I hope to see all of you back out Monady night.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

A big night of final round scoring brought out the best in "Ladies Night Out" as Bruiser took control, embarrassed himself, as usual, and led his team to a 6 point victory over "Off Duty". Jackie tried her best to "encourage" answers out of me but she just wasn't up to the task. A huge roar went up when it was announced that "Out of the Vortex" finished 4th. For the 'Vortex, apparently Bob was the problem and Barbara beat him up in the parking lot after the show. For the 3rd place "Stupid MOFOs" the smackdown came earlier when the new team leader Tracy had to physically restrain their former leader, Joyce the Jugular, from attacking the 'Vortex. She really doesn't like that team. I think it has something to do with Margie sleeping with the host. Well, Joyce..........nevermind! "R&R" finished well back in a 5th place tie with the geriatric loons from "Thorns-n-Roses". "R&R's" Tyson promised to beat up Bruiser in two weeks when we return from our Thanksgiving break if he doesn't learn to SIT DOWN. Thanks to all of you for continuing to support this show that is nearing the completion of it's 6th year. Please have a safe and happy Thanksgiving holiday.

Last Week's Blurbage

Well, the Fall 2007 tournaments have concluded and the "Lionel Richie" Collapse is now history. "Out of the Vortex" came from 21 points back 3 weeks ago to complete an unbelievable turnaround to win their 2nd consecutive tournament, preventing 'Richie from returning to the top spot they enjoyed last fall. "Cowbell" did not suffer the same fate. They had been locked in a struggle for 3rd place with Brian's goofy misfits from "Billy's Various Body Parts" but managed to stay 6 points ahead of them when all was said and done. For Brian's team as well as all others in the house last Monday night, the big news had nothing to do with the tournament. At the end of the second round Bill got down on his knee and proposed to Kim. Kim, of course, said yes. Kim is a longtime fan of the show and started coming out many years ago when Curtis was doing the show and I understand that he will be DJing their wedding. Kim and Bill's first date out together was at my trivia show at the Villa Nova West. Congratulations once again to the lovely couple. Now, back to the tournament. "Michigan Man" finished 5th and the "J-Men" had to fend off the "Wacky Corner" for the 6th and final money position. The Grand Prize winner of the $300 gift card from Park City went to, no, not Stephanie, it went to Peter from "Super Geeks". Thanks to all of you for continuing to support the shows. I hope to see all of you back out Monady night.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

One week after the conclusion of the Fall 2007 tournament I expected a slump in attendance. That's just the way the trivia world works. Well, surprise, surprise. 85 people on 12 teams showed up. We had to use the lobby for the overflow. We used it all thru the tournament but didn't expect to last Thursday. thanks to all of you for continuing to support this show that is nearing the completion of it's 6th year. As for the show last week, it certainly was a high scoring night.....except for tournament champions "Out of the Vortex". The 'Vortex finished 10th out of 12 teams and the crowd was stunned into joyful disbelief. "R & R" had a perfect final round to capture 1st place with "Off Duty" right on their heels. The "Bar Ks" finally put it together and finished strongly in 3rd place. Karen took all of the credit. "Thorns-n-Roses" was near perfect in the final round and had one of their best nights ever as the geriatrically challenged ones finished in 4th place. "Ladies Night Out" suffered and Pam blamed it all on Bruiser. She said he's just not putting out like he used to. Everyone was wondering where the "Stupid MOFOs" were and I had to tell them that Queen Nutjob Joyce was home taking a much needed nap. She collapsed under the pressure of her teammates not performing up to her standards. The poor girl just couldn't take it. As for "Just the 18th" they had to take the night off to give their collective cleavage a rest after exposure at the Halloween party.

Last Week's Blurbage

Welcome to the complete collapse of "Lionel Richie Has Left Us". Two weeks ago they enjoyed a 20 point lead over the "Super Geeks" and their lead has not only vanished but the 'Geeks now lead by 6 points with the final night of the Fall 2007 tournament one day away. Can 'Lionel Richie recover? Meanwhile, "Cowbell" holds a norrow 3 point lead over "Billy's Body Parts". Stefan insists the "Cowbell" can hold them off but I am not sure. Brian and his crew often come through when you least expect it. Of course you have to understand that the 'Cowbell is hoping the 'Body Parts forget to turn in their 1st round answers so they have an extra 10 point cushion to play with. In the 6th and final money position sits the "J-Men". John and his gang are also holding on to a narrow 3 point lead over the "Wacky Corner" and with Stephanie away this week the 'Corner's gray cells are seriously compromised so who knows.

Your Remaining Mini-categories are:

Fast Food
Stock Symbols

The mini-categories are in no particular order. One of them will be used every week of the tournament and then will be dropped from the list. Since there were originally 10 listed, the final week of the tournament may or may not include both of the 2 remaining categories. Bribery of the host IS highly encouraged.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

For "Out of the Vortex", the relentless assault by "R & R" and a perfect score by those fruitcakes from the "Stupid MOFOS" was not enough to prevent them from winning their first tournament since the 2004 Spring Challenge here at Crossgates. Their win also stopped "Ladies Night Out" from building a dynasty of their own. The Bruiser led 'Ladies had won 3 of the previous 4 tournaments (broken up by the "Bar Ks" win in the Fall of 2006) and they were the early favorites to repeat. "Ladies Night Out" finished 4th overall and were near perfect on the final night of the tournament. Perfection belonged to the "Stupid MOFOs" although Rick and Matt were greatly distracted by the huge amounts of cleavage running about thanks to the pirate whenches from Carson and his mavens from "Just the 18th". Yes I said pirate whenches because this night also was our 6th annual costume party. The whenches won the best dressed contest although it was a close one. Do you remember the talented "Nothing But Babaganoosh" team from a few years back? Well, they made their annual treck to the Halloween show, this time coming as Hogwarts finest from Harry Potter fame. We also had a visit from Elta John (Elton's sister), the Queen of the Library, Bobby Jones, Howie Mandel, Elvira, a group of dominos, Judge Judy, the Rifleman, the Lone Ranger and King Richard. thanks to all of you who came out in costume.

This weeks Mini-categories will be:

80s Music
TV - Police Dramas

See you guys Thursday night.

Last Week's Blurbage

The lead is NOT safe. With 2 weeks to go in our 2007 Fall Tournament at the Barn Door, the lead that "Lionel Richie Has Left Us" has been enjoying has been nearly cut in half by the resurgent "Super Geeks". Last monday night the 'Geeks won for the first time since the opening night of the tournament 7 weeks ago and the lead of "Lionel Richie has Left Us" has shrunk to 11 points. Acccording to Sean, the 'Richie team isn't doing so well because of his sister-in-law Beth. She apparently has been a huge disappointment. Further back, "Cowbell" suffered a HUGE setback last week and fell 31 points off the pace. They are now in danger of losing the 3rd place spot to "Billy's Body Parts as they only hold a 4 point edge for 3rd place. "Michigan Man" still figures in the mix and they insist that with 2 weeks to play they are good enough to move up from their current 5th place spot. The "Wacky Corner, on the other hand, has their work cut out for them as they are currently in 7th place just 6 points out of the 6th and final money position and Stephanie will not be available next Monady for the finale. That means that Bob and Chad better come through.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

After a humiliating week 7 where the geeky "Out of the Vortex" couldn't make it into the top 6 for the night the 'Vortex came back in week 8 to narrowly defeat their closest rival, "R & R" by 2 points to widen their slim lead to 8 points with the final night of the tournament on the horizon. Ralph believes his "R & R" group has the ability to leapfrog the 'Vortex for the title. One thing is for certain, the reign of "Ladies Night Out" and the "Bar Ks" is coming to an end. The one outside challenge to the top spot might come from the nutjobs from the "Stupid MOFOs". They are only 19 points back and, although it is a longshot, Queen nutjob Joyce and her gang of loons could do some damage on the final night of the tournament this Thursday night. Meanwhile the once feared "Ladies night Out" is trying to hold on to 4th place but "off Duty" is only 3 points behind them. Now for the shocker. "Thorns-n-Roses" is holding on to 6th place. That is shocking enough but the most shocking is that they are trying to hold off the "Bar Ks" who find themselves 6 points out of the final money position. Hey Karen you better get the gang in gear. Best wishes go out to Carli's sister Leah from "Just the 18th". She suffered a burst appendix and is currently recovering from surgery.

Last Week's Blurbage

Here we are, 3 weeks to go in our 2007 Fall Tournament at the Barn Door and the lead that "Lionel Richie Has Left Us" has been enjoying has gone back to 20 points. The "Super Geeks", however, don't enjoy the same luxury. "Some Kinda Cowbell" has closed to within 4 points of the 2nd place 'Geeks while "Billy's Body Parts" and "Michigan Man" are 1 point apart and battling for 4th place. "Billy's Body Parts" team should be 10 points closer but they failed to turn in their 1st round answers last week and they would have had a perfect score. The entire team blamed it on Dan and he took it pretty hard. After the show he tried to douse himself with gasoline at the Getty Mart. The "Wacky Corner", thanks to a great finish last Monday has moved 7 points ahead of the "J-Men" for the 6th and final money position. Meanwhile, the talented "KCC" is struggling to hold on to its much coveted 10th place spot.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

The geeky "Out of the Vortex" is looking on in disbelief as they struggle to find a way to close out their first tournament victory since the 2005 Spring Tournament here at Crossgates. "Ladies Night Out" and the "Bar Ks" have ruled the roost over the last few tournaments but the 'Vortex wants to change that trend. They are struggling to hold off the almost as geeky and apparently hard of hearing "R & R" as I had to repeat nearly all of the questions multiple times last Thursday for not only "R & R" but also "Just the 18th". The lead is only 6 points at this time and we only have 2 weeks to go. The scary team is the group of fruitcakes from the "Stupid MOFOs". They have moved to within 15 points of 1st place and Joyce promises that if they don't overtake 'Vortex it is all Rick's fault.....or did she say Matt.....or was it Tracy. In any case I think she can take all of them if she decides to beat someone up. Meanwhile, the winners of 3 of the last 4 tournaments, "Ladies night Out", are in a dead heat with "Off Duty" for 4th place. Last week, thanks to Jackie, the 'Duty had one of their best nights ever as they won the night. The MOFOs Joyce said she was going to beat up Jackie too. I think we have some issues to deal with here. The meds are just not working. Also, the "Thorns-n-Roses" are making it especially embarrassing for the "Bar Ks" as they are keeping Jan, Karen and the gang out of 6th place at the moment. Can the "Bar Ks" recover in time? Will Jack finally contribute? Does John even care? Who knows what knowledge lurks in the minds of players. Ahh Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha.

Last Week's Blurbage

Here we are, 4 weeks to go in our 2007 Fall Tournament at the Barn Door and the lead that "Lionel Richie Has Left Us" has been enjoying is shrinking. A scoring error in the 3rd round last week has enabled the "Super Geeks" to close to within 13 points. The BIG story last week is the fact that the mighty "Cowbell" FINALLY beat the 'Geeks to the finish line. It has been a lifelong dream of Stefan to outperform the, as Kim says, "way too many degrees freaks". The "Cowbell" is now just 18 points back as they have moved into 3rd place bumping "Billy's $%@ Body Parts" into 4th place probably because Brian wasn't able to make it. I think Dan said he was at a tupperware party or something like that. "Michigan Man" remains in 5th place while the "J-Men" have moved 1 point ahead of the snake-bitten "Wacky Corner". The 'Corner was once a feared competitor but they have fallen on some hard times. My gut feeling is that Steph is just not up to the task. Bob and Ed agree. The big question is, will Stephanie win another Grand Prize at the conclusion of our tournament even as her team flounders. Check the mini-category list below and see if you can guess which one I will use this week.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

We almost had to force people to sit on the deck last week in 48 degree weather as 53 people packed the lobby for the 6th week of our 9 week Fall tournament. "Out of the Vortex won by a narrow 2 points over.....are you sitting down....."Thorns-n-Roses". Yes you read that correctly, the Geriatric Gang from the 'Roses have recently been infused by some MUCH younger blood and they now, in some ridiculous fashion, actually think they have a shot at winning it all. To make matters even more odd the 'Roses have pushed the Not-So-Jack-Inspired "Bar Ks" into 7th place. Hey Jack, that's embarrassing. Karen told me at the parade yesterday that your performance has been less than stellar of late. UH OH! Speaking of less than stellar preformances the "Stupid MOFOs" now find themselves fending off a challenge from "Ladies Night Out" for 4th place. The 'MOFO's Joyce is not the least bit happy and has promised to beat Bruiser up. As a matter of fact she also intends to beat her teammate Tracy up (but that's a domestic issue - they are fighting over adopting me). I think it is an "adoption" issue. Tickets go on sale Monday and a sellout is expected. Joyce is a Vegas odds-on favorite at an early 3-2. Meanwhile Off Duty is hanging around waiting for the dust to settle. Waiting in the wings is the 2nd place "R & R". Ralph's bunch is only 5 points out of first and they are the ONLY team that hasn't finished out of the weekly top six so far.

Last Week's Blurbage

Well, we have reached the midpoint of our 9 week Fall tournament here at the Barn Door and "Lionel Richie Has Left Us" is threatening to run away with the championship. After consecutive solid weekly wins the NEW Ubergeeks have opened up a 20 point lead over the crashing "Out of the Vortex/Super Geeks". As a matter of fact, no less than 3 other teams are closing quickly on the once feared 'Vortex juggernaut. "Billy's Body Parts", "Some Kinda Cowbell" and "Michigan Man" are all enjoying the current mental roadtrip that the 'Vortex have taken. In 6th place currently is the fickle group from "Wacky Corner". The 'Corner is not used to being anywhere other than 3rd and now they find themselves fighting to hold onto 6th place with heavy challenges from "Just Dumb Luck", the "J-Men" and "Don't Know Jack". Hey corner, that could be embarrassing. You better pick it up or you will finish out of the money. Of course, Stephanie will probably, once again, win the grand prize. Week 5 is on the way. Check the mini-category list below and see if you can guess which one I will use this week.

Your Remaining Mini-categories are:

Botany
Orchestra Instruments
Fast Food
Crustaceans
Stock Symbols
Comic Strips

The mini-categories are in no particular order. One of them will be used every week of the tournament and then will be dropped from the list. Since there were originally 10 listed, the final week of the tournament may or may not include both of the 2 remaining categories. Bribery of the host IS highly encouraged.

GOOD LUCK

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Oh how the mighty are falling or is that the sound of the Borg and their Queen creating mayhem in the trivia cosmos. Yes, with hump week behind us, "Out of the Vortex" is painfully feeling the detruction that the "Stupid MOFOs" and their new queen Tracy are putting on the other teams in this Fall 2007 9 week tournament. Tracy told me that she was taking Joyce's powers away from her and she alone now controls the 'MOFOs. UhOh, catfight alert. The "Stupid MOFOs" have closed to within 14 points of the tournament lead and I think it is newcomer Nancy's fault from "Out of the Vortex". She apparently told Scott that she was upset with him for some unknown reason and didn't show up last week to help them out. It was probably because Margie punched her out in the parking lot and Scott thought it was funny. You gotta love all of these catfights. Speaking of catfights, Pam and Sally from "Ladies Night Out" got into it again in their constant struggle over who gets custody of Bruiser. They are both upset that Bruiser's obedience training isn't going well. He won't learn how to SIT and they are blaming each other. Even with that the 'Ladies have also moved to within striking distance of the 'Vortex with 4 weeks to go. I don't want to leave out "R & R". They have also been enjoying a great run and find themselves just 2 points out of 1st place. Ralph's gaggle of goofs are the ONLY team to finish in the top 6 in every week of the tournament so far. Consistency in play is their motto and with 3 straight 2nd place finishes they may be right. "Off Duty" is trying to hold off the "Bar Ks" for the 5th place spot. They are separated by only 9 points. Karen was overheard screaming at her teammates that she is more concerned about only being 2 points ahead of "Thorns-n-Roses" for that 6th place spot which she thinks is truly humiliating.

Last Week's Blurbage

After 3 weeks of our 9 week tournament "Lionel Richie Has left Us", on the strength of last Monday's narrow win, has assumed control in what looks to be a very close tournament. The "Super Geeks" are only 2 points back in 2nd place with "Cowbell" 9 points back in 3rd place. Last weeks tournament leaders, "Michigan Man", have fallen into a tie with "Billy's Fabulous Moving Parts" for 4th place with "Don't Know Jack" trying desperately to hold on to 6th place as the "J-Men" and "Just Dumb Luck" hope to move up. Here is how I see things shaping up. 'Lionel Richie is probably going to win. With hired guns Ben and Beth back in the fold (it's a family thing) they win just on the cuteness factor. Sorry Kim ("Cowbell" Kim, not 'Richie Kim.....damn now I am in trouble). Of course with a team this loaded with advanced degrees (take that 'Vortex, it is going to be hard to stop them. Then there is the mighty 'Cowbell. Stephan's sole goal is to finish ahead of the "Super Geeks" (formerly "Out of the Vortex"). He might get his wish as long as his own Kim starts performing better. Week 4 is on the way. Check the mini-category list below and see if you can guess which one I will use this week.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Here we go.....It's HUMP WEEK. Yes, the 5th week of our 9 week Fall Tournament is upon us and the "Super Geeks", formerly known as "Out of the Vortex" picked up a huge win last week and they are now 19 points ahead of 2nd place "R & R". Ralph said he is going to put something in Keith's water this week to slow him down. While I am on the subject of the 'Vortex I would like to welcome trivia virgin Nancy to the show. FINALLY Scott found someone who wants to be seen in public with him. This is a long time coming. Also a big welcome goes out to the "College Idiots" Kayla. This was her first time out also. The "Stupid MOFOs" fell into 3rd place just 2 points ahead of "Ladies Night Out".....and.....to Joyce's liking 17 points ahead of her buddy "Jack's "Bar Ks" team which is currently in 5th place just 1 point ahead of the slumping "Off Duty" which, in turn, is just one point ahead of the 7th place "Thorns-n-Roses". Hey Jackie, you better start helping "Off Duty" out or you will find yourself behind the 'Roses and it doesn't get much worse than that. Sara is not happy. "Just the 18th" is struggling in 8th place as they have finished out of the top 6 the last 2 weeks. Dawn said it is all Rob's fault. Carson agrees!
Congratulations to server Carli and her induction along with her 2002 Penn Manor PA State Champion Soccer Team into the Penn Manor Hall of Fame this week. Also server Laura turns 21 on Tuesday. Happy Birthday Laura!
