Last Week's Blurbage
What a night. Once again we had 11 teams come out just to have me beat them up.....well.....all except "Out of the Vortex". The 'Vortex faithful clobbered everyone last Monday night with a 75 point night that included 47 out of 55 points in the final round. Are they hitting their peak at the right time? The Spring 2007 tournament here at the Barn Door starts in 1 week and the 'Vortex will be a force to be dealt with. Perhaps "Lionel Richie Has Left Us" will be the team to step up. As some of you may recall, 'Richie ran away with a 66 point overall victory in the Fall 2006 tournament. Who finished 2nd? You guessed it, those dastardly 'Vortex fruitcakes and their ringleader.....it's a different one every week! Perhaps it will be last week's 3rd place team of "On Top Golden Blond". Yep, that was their name. Perhaps it will be "Wacky Corner.....or NOT! It all depends on who shows up each week. Stephanie and Lori insist that most of the men on their team don't really help out much although they both seem to like.........!
Could it be Brian's Name Changing Team that stops 'Vortex? Could it be "Becky and her gang? Maybe Kim and Bill will show enough "Common Sense" to find help or, possibly, Katie will be able to wake up grandpa long enough to get some answers out of him. Irma says "probably not".
Will "KCCCCCCCCCCC" survive the slugfest and will tournament newcomers "Just Bonin' Up" be able to handle the rookie pressure?
Lefty insists Carol's still a keeper!

Last Week's Blurbage
After a week off due to Mother Nature's rath we returned to Annie Baileys last Tuesday night with our best and biggest show at our newest venue. We had 34 people on 7 teams come out and the single STRANGEST thing in trivia history took place. "Laffy Taffy" WON, and they WON in a HUGE way. The 'Taffy people had 9 of 11 answers correct in the final round and romped to victory. I was so stunned I almost had to have drug tests issued but I changed my mind when I realized that Mary Jo was not part of the mix. Putting 2 and 2 together I realized that their team does so much better when she is NOT there and Leslie and Barb agreed with that.
Well back in 2nd place was none other than everyone's arch-rival "Out of the Vortex" followed very closely by "We Have The Runs". Speaking of the 'Runs, both Todds once again took complete credit for their teams finish. Hey guys, you should make 1st place your goal.....NOT 3rd. The Barb-less "Hey Now" and the Matt inspired "S S Millersville" did their best to finish out of the money. I sure hope that is not their plan for the tournament here at Annie Baileys that starts next Tuesday March 6th.
Parking is available on the street, if you can find it, and in the King Street Parking garage up the ramp next to the convention center site. Parking in the garage is $1 an hour so carpooling is a good way to save a quarter or two.

THIS IS AN EMERGENCY CANCELLATION ANNOUNCEMENT
TONIGHT'S SHOW AT CROSSGATES IS POSTPONED
Last week we had a weather situation that forced us to cancel the show at Crossgates. This week it is a serious health situation.
Louie's mother Eva has apparently suffered congestive heart failure and is in serious condition at Lancaster General Hospital. Louie, Celi and, most importantly, Louie's father Lou will not be available tonight due to Eva's health concerns and Celi's cannot operate without them.....nor should it in this situation.
Take another night off from trivia and rest you brains because your Spring 2007 tournament begins next Thursday night!
Please keep Eva in your thoughts and wish her well.

Thanks to Mother Nature's unpleasant visit last week this was our only show. 11 teams totalling 72 people came out and braved the ridiculous cold to see how much they knew (or didn't) about ancient Roman history. The geek squad from "Out of the Vortex" proved to know the most about ancient Rome, prompting the "Just Bonin' Up" gang to notice that some of the 'Vortex were actually present during those ancient times. That, apparently, is why they knew so much. The New Age Julius Caesar movement called "Bon'us Maximus" rode their chariots into 2nd place just ahead of the 3rd place "That's What She Said" team. Oh Brian!.
Finishing just out of the money was "Common Sense" in 4th place. Kim and Bill stated that their brains are now retuned for this kind of mental mayhem and they are going to kick some butt in the upcoming tournament. YEAH, RIGHT!
Hey Lefty (that's dear old dad to me) ....."Just Bonin' Up" says hi!

This is a ANOTHER Special Weather Statement from the office of.....are you ready.....
Special Weather Statements
Yep, it is a near repeat of your previous notice. In order to not put anyone at risk and due to the OBVIOUS weather situation, tomorrow night's show at Crossgates is cancelled. After talking to Louie, we have both decided that we would rather play it safe. In combination with the last 24 hours of CRAP, the forecast for tomorrow is below zero wind-chills and blowing and drifting snow due to the expected high-winds. Roads will certainly be difficult to travel in some areas. Knowing this, and not being certain about the Crossgates parking lot situation, we would rather not put you guys and staff at any risk travelling to and from the clubhouse. If you planned on coming out tomorrow night please contact your teammates and let them know that they should stay home, make some hot chocolate and curl up with another "good book". Hmmmmmm!

Yep, it is a near repeat of your previous notice. In order to not put anyone at risk and due to the OBVIOUS weather situation, tomorrow night's show at Crossgates is cancelled. After talking to Louie, we have both decided that we would rather play it safe. In combination with the last 24 hours of CRAP, the forecast for tomorrow is below zero wind-chills and blowing and drifting snow due to the expected high-winds. Roads will certainly be difficult to travel in some areas. Knowing this, and not being certain about the Crossgates parking lot situation, we would rather not put you guys and staff at any risk travelling to and from the clubhouse. If you planned on coming out tomorrow night please contact your teammates and let them know that they should stay home, make some hot chocolate and curl up with another "good book". Hmmmmmm!

In this bitter cold weather you guys are still coming out in ridiculous numbers. Either you really like getting your brains bashed in or you have no other life. In either case, you are the best of the best. Last week, thanks to the Germany mini-category, "Nicht So Argerlich" ("not so annoying" to you losers) came from behind to win the show . In doing so they shoved "Out of the Vortex" into 2nd place, just 2 points ahead of "Lionel Richie Has Left Us". The 'Richie team actually had LEFT US for a few weeks but they came back thinking they were just going to pick up where they left off. Well, they finished 3rd and had to hold on as the "Von Trapp Swingers" came down from the Alps and nearly got by Lionel. Speaking of mountains, I lost my mind last week. Although it did not change the outcome, I did err on the answer about the 2nd highest mountain in the world. I had one of those magical moments where your brain takes a vacation. My mouth DID NOT sound out the question I wrote. Sorry about that. I am now going to throw myself into the Mauna Loa volcano.
"Wacky Corner" once again struggled in the final round and finished well off the pace. It seems that when Bob, Linda, Ed and Natalie are not there that it all falls on Stephanie and Lori to do a good job. Both of them agree that Phil is no help at all and.....well.....Chad is still really confused!

This was our 4th show here at Annie Baileys Irish Pub in downtown Lancaster last Tuesday night and although there were only 5 teams they were LARGE teams. A total of 34 people came out. This was our biggest crowd to date and, barring weather problems, we should continue to grow as Annie Baileys first ever trivia tournament closes in.
"Puppet Lint", those trivia vagabonds, showed up and Tony & Lisa kicked some major butt in winning with just the 2 of them. "Out of the Vortex" was in awe of the 'Lint people and finished 2nd. Meanwhile, "Billy Warmth's Bast?rd Children" (sensor alert) were shell-shocked into 3rd place after 2 really good opening rounds. Both Todds agreed that it was Jean's fault. They really wanted to blame Angela but they are both afraid of her. "Laffy Taffy" and "S S Milersville" both tried their best and came oh-so-close to the top 3 but, alas, it wasn't to be.
Parking is available on the street, if you can find it, and in the King Street Parking garage up the ramp next to the convention center site. Parking in the garage is $1 an hour so carpooling is a good way to save a quarter or two.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
On an unbelievably cold night we managed to wedge everyone inside the clubhouse to keep warm. Often we have to use the lobby for the overflow and it can get a little chilly out there but the light crowd helped out last Thursday.
The "Bar Ks" went absolutely nuts in the final round and got 9 of the 11 questions correct to hammer their closest rival of late, "Off Duty". Coming from way back in the pack after 2 rounds was none other than "R & R" as they helped keep "Out of the Vortex" out of the top 3 places. The crowd was really charged up after that 2nd round when they realized that the 'Vortex appeared to be destined for an off night. The highlight of the night wasn't the top 3 gift certificates or the finish of the 'Vortex but, rather, the final Wacky Raffle gift. Bribes and threats of parking lot meetings were heard as we gave away a giant bag of Milk Chocolate Covered Peanut Butter Eggs. Who would have thought that this would cause the mass-hysteria that it did. I think I will try for similar results at all 3 shows this week. This could prove to be the newest form of Pavlov type experiments.

Crossgates PGA Pro Scott Vandegrift (MU Golf Team Head Coach) and assistant PGA Pro Scott Fritz are the guys to see.
