Last Week's Blurbage

OH MY. Capacity-91---Total Attendance-95---Owner's Smile-Priceless. Thanks to the wonderful people from the Trans Suzuki Orchestra we had the biggest show yet in the history of the Barn door last Monday night. 17 teams and yes, 95 people filled the place to the rafters. There was standing room only at the bar and not a single seat available in the dining rooms. Give yourselves a hearty round of applause, I know I did. The place was so full that we almost had to set up sound in the parking lot. Here is the shocking part of the night....."Don't Know Jack" won. Okay, take a deep breath before you pass out. I know how surprising that is. "Lionel Richie Has Left Us" finished 2nd and "Out of the Vortex" finished 3rd. Yep, another total shock. The "Wacky Corner" self-destructed in the 2nd round with their lowest 2 round total in history but they did manage to finish 4th and picked one of the mini-categories for this week. Ed claims it was all natalie's fault. And as for Stefan and Kim, their team finished 5th and they are the holders of the SECRET mini-category for this week's Barn Door show. Kim is making Stefan sleep on the couch until he starts performing better. Hey Kim, "How will you know if he is on the couch?" We are now 6 weeks away from the start of the Fall 2007 Trivia Challenge Tournament". Even scarier is the fact that we are just 2 weeks away from Bruiser hosting my shows for me while I am on vacation. Beware the 'Vortex, they are laying plans to pummel all of you in the tournament. "Just Bonin' Up" claims they are going to do the same thing but not if the girls don't show up. The 9-week fall 2007 tournament will begin on Monday, September 10th and will conclude on Monday, November 5th.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

YOU DID IT. We finally got to the 150 mark last week here at Crosssgates when 152 people came out and covered the deck like make-up on the late Tammy Faye. Hey, politically correct I have never been. 19 teams made for an interesting night. "Just the 18th" was back with the 2nd string as they try to prepare for the upcoming tournament. Dawn flashed me twice trying to get extra points. The kids were a bit embarassed but I was okay with it. I can't be bribed however.....NAH, yeah I can. Welcome back to Carson and "It's Not My Coke" Lindsey. "Sorry officer I must be wearing someone elses pants." They came out to keep Kathy in check. "Off Duty" struggled, it was all Lauren's fault. The first round was unusually tough for many teams. Who won? Need you ask. the top teams were the usual suspects. "Out of the Vortex was first, followed by "R & R" in 2nd place. Tyson said it was because Clair didn't come out that they did so well. UhOh, a smack down I think. In 3rd place it was the Karen inspired "Bar Ks" even though Lou took total credit for it while he was wearing his Yankess hat.

Last Week's Blurbage

I cannot explain it but this show keeps getting more and more popular. Another full house with 15 teams packed the barn door and that doesn't include regulars "KC" and some of "Wacky Corner" who were among the missing. "Out of the Vortex" seems to be getting tuned up for the 9-week fall 2007 tournament which begins on Monday, September 10th and will conclude on Monday, November 5th. The super geeks from the 'Vortex just got by "Wacky Corner" and "Bend Over For Beckham" who tied for 2nd place just 2 points back. Stefan wants to know where Brian's team was. He loves their creative team names. Speaking of Stefan, I found out that one of his all-time favorite groups is England Dan and John Ford Coley ("Nights Are Forever Without You, apparently dedicated to Brian....Kim is so pissed) along with Seals and Croft ("Get Closer). "Lionel Richie Has Left Us" finished in 4th place and chose next week's announced mini-category of New Zealand.....Baaaaaaaaaa! LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

We almost got to 140 people here at Crossgates last week as we welcomed 18 teams to the show. "Out of the Vortex" brought in a ringer named Alyssa. They really needed it because they have been getting beaten up lately finishing out of the top 5 for 3 straight weeks. The next closest anyone got was "Ladies Night Out" 9 points back in 2nd place. Hey Pam, how come you weren't out for the Playboy mini-category? Chicken! Third place went to "R & R"( Welcome back Ralph and Judy, sorry I forgot to announce your tie with the "Stupid MOFOs")."Just the 18th" returned (good score guys - this is one fine looking team) and they are warming up for the fall tournament which will begin here at Crossgates on September 6th and conclude with our 6th annual Halloween party on November 1st at the conclusion of the tournament. Hey Lindsey, I missed you and Carson. Some time this summer we might just find out how many people this deck can really hold here at Crossgates. Welcome back Wes ("Keep This Coupon"). It was a perfect weather night as the showers held off until just after the final round. This week expect some jumbles in the second round and at least 1 name the artist question.

Last Week's Blurbage

Oh Yeah, another HUGE night, 15 teams and over 80 people once again brought the Barn Door to a near standstill last Monday night. Parking was most certainly at a premium. It was a truly strange night when, thanks to the Horse Breeds mini-category, Brian's harem changed their team name to "Hung Like a Horse". That got Kim and server Cathy's attention until they realized that it was Kristina who thought of the team name. that brought shivers to their spines. It was also a high scoring night with "Out of the Vortex" capturing 1st place away from the 'Horse people. The amazing story of the night was "Just Dumb Luck" scoring very well and finishing in 3rd place. It had absolutely nothing to do with Bob threatening to kill me after I annouced the change in direction for the Barn Door. It seems that from now on they will have male strippers on friday nights and bartender Gary (Bob's son) is apparently going to be leading the group as they dance on tables all over the place. "KC's" Karen can't wait to put her dollar bills to good use, and, the Steph, of the "Wacky corner" has been waiting for this moment for years. It seems that she has been wanting to see Gary in a g-string for many years. Stefan agrees with Stephanie.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Some time this summer we might just find out how many people this deck can really hold here at crossgates. We had nearly 130 people here last Thursday night on one of the nicest nights we have had in a long time for this show. You just can't beat mid 80s, low humidity, slight breeze. It was an excellent weather night. As for the show, remember Brian (math geek) and the "Hung Like a Horse" team from the Monday night blurb? Well, the mini-category of Integral Calculus drew them out for the Celi's show last week and they called themselves the "Square Root of 9 Musketeers" and they slipped by the Jan inspired "Bar Ks" for 1st place. This was the "Bar Ks' second consecutive 2nd place finish! Will they ever return to the top spot? "Ladies Night Out", led by the Beastie Boy inspired Bruiser finished in 3rd place last week just ahead of Jeff's (another math geek) "Keep This Coupon" and "Scrapple". The deep-on-the-deck mega-team of "Off Duty" finished just outside of the top 5 with a very good 68 point night. I think it was Lauren's fault.....at least that is what Sarah and Jackie said. The top 6 teams were separated by a total of 7 points. Without ties it can't get much closer than that. Any one of those teams could have won last week. Where, you ask, was "Out of the Vortex". They finished WELL back in the pack for the 2nd straight week and nobody can quite figure out why. Dawn's team is hoping that the 'Vortex continues this trend duing the upcoming Fall tournament. There are apparently plentying of fingers pointing in many different directions. Welcome back to the "Cheeseballs", the "Phillies" and the "Bucketheads". In regards to the "Cheeseballs", they had a really good night but Cheryl was once again quick to blame Jay on the team's downfall. Remember when the 'Balls were a force to be dealt with? Then Jay went and retired! I think playing golf has taken some of Jay's grey cells captive. "Crimson Tide and math geek Jan invited friends from the Penn Manor quiz bowl team to join them but, alas, my questions are not the type they are use to hearing and ddzzzzz, there go the brain cells, like a fly in a bug zapper. Even with math geek Jan leading the charge the 'Tide had a tough night.

Last Week's Blurbage

Oh What a Night, 16 teams and 93 people brought the Barn Door to a near standstill last Monday night. We used every spare table and chair in the place for everyone and there were only 3 open seats at the bar. Parking was provided by the Lancaster Airport Authority and Stefan (who used to ride the short yellow bus and is now it's driver) provided transportation. Some people who drove themselves in from the airport had to park at the high school and walk in. We welcomed back "Linuscratchitt" who finished 4th and picked Jacque Cousteau as this week's mini-category and we had a tie for 5th place between "Just Dumb Luck" and "Common Sense". which means that there will be two additional secret mini-categories that only those two teams will know what they are. "Wacky Corner" actually also finished tied for 5th but they lost their collective minds and forgot to put down a mini-category selection. It was Bob's fault. We also welcomed back "Common Sense". "Barbara's Bush" (hey, he can't say that) also made an appearance and they struggled throughout the night. "Out of the Vortex" did very well and won by 4 points over "Pardon Me Scooter" and the Stefan (bus driver) inspired 'Scooter team was one point better than the 3rd place team of misfits from "Lionel Richie Has Left Us". The "Wacky Corner"'s Phil went absolutely nuts when he shot out of his barstool to collect his wacky raffle prize of a one pound box of James Salt Water Taffy direct from Atlantic City. I have never seen anyone move that fast and his lovely wife agreed.

No storms and a calm night but "Off Duty" and "Thorns and Roses" still wanted to sit in the lobby. It was another busy night last Thursday here at Celis @ Crossgates and "Ladies Night Out" ruled the night with a 5 point win over the "Bar Ks" who did VERY well WITHOUT Jack in attendance. Karen was quite pleased. The "Bar Ks" finished 5 points ahead of the third place team of "Off Duty" (Lobby Dwellers). The 4th place team of "Crimson Tide" picked one of the starngest mini-categories i have ever had. Are you sitting down? It is Integral Calculus. You might as well stab yourself with a dull pencil right now. Ouch!Don't forget there is also a secret mini-category which was chosen by the 5th place team of "Scrapple, aka, Greasy Gopher Guts". Last Week's Blurbage

Yep, if this keeps up I think Gary is going to have to build a deck or a second story dedicated to Monday night's show. We just keep growing and growing. Last Monday's secret category was Harry Potter. This week it is VERY different ..... and ..... I am officially retiring Futurama as a mini-category. I know some of you are at this moment throwing a party. As far as last Monday goes, "Just Bonin' Up" won the night(their choice of Harry Potter helped them tremendously). They forced the dreaded "Out of the Vortex" into 2nd place and a great cheer went up when the 'Vortex finish was announced. The same thing happened at Thursday night's show at Crossgates also when 'Vortex finished in 2nd place.Third place last Monday was "Hairy Twatter", a not so cute play on words but, hey, I tend to throw political correctness out the window at my shows and allow most things. Monday night the giant barrel of Cheeseballs will return.

This Week's Mini-Category

The Civil Rights Movement
&
The Secret Category

GOOD LUCK
&
See Mike Will See You Guys Monday night.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Thunderstorms and sideways rain forced some teams into the lobby last week and what a week it was. We saw the return of "Pitt Stop" and they came with their brains recharged and they won with a nearly perfect 3rd and final round. Mark and Dennis each are claiming that they put the team over the top. The women strongly disagree. "Out of the Vortex" suffered their 2nd defeat of the week and a roar went up from the crowd when that was announced. It was so humiliating of a defeat that it brought tears to Barbara and Keith's eyes. Even the "Bar Ks" (led by the fabulous Shayna) finished only 2 points behind them in 3rd place. One point further back in 4th place was the testosterone driven "Ladies Night Out" team led by Sally's stud Bruiser. Now THAT explains everything. I may have to take him back to obedience school unless he learns to SIT. The gang from the "Tickets" thinks he should be neutered. Alice has volunteered to do it for free.

This Week's Mini-Category

Hindu Gods and Idols
(Bruiser picked it)
plus
2 additional secret categories
there was a tie for 5th between
"Off Duty" and "R & R"

GOOD LUCK
&
See you guys Thursday night.
