Last Week's Blurbage

After 3 weeks of our 9 week tournament "Lionel Richie Has left Us", on the strength of last Monday's narrow win, has assumed control in what looks to be a very close tournament. The "Super Geeks" are only 2 points back in 2nd place with "Cowbell" 9 points back in 3rd place. Last weeks tournament leaders, "Michigan Man", have fallen into a tie with "Billy's Fabulous Moving Parts" for 4th place with "Don't Know Jack" trying desperately to hold on to 6th place as the "J-Men" and "Just Dumb Luck" hope to move up. Here is how I see things shaping up. 'Lionel Richie is probably going to win. With hired guns Ben and Beth back in the fold (it's a family thing) they win just on the cuteness factor. Sorry Kim ("Cowbell" Kim, not 'Richie Kim.....damn now I am in trouble). Of course with a team this loaded with advanced degrees (take that 'Vortex, it is going to be hard to stop them. Then there is the mighty 'Cowbell. Stephan's sole goal is to finish ahead of the "Super Geeks" (formerly "Out of the Vortex"). He might get his wish as long as his own Kim starts performing better. Week 4 is on the way. Check the mini-category list below and see if you can guess which one I will use this week.

Your Remaining Mini-categories are:

Washington Redskins
Botany
Orchestra Instruments
Fast Food
Crustaceans
Stock Symbols
Comic Strips

The mini-categories are in no particular order. One of them will be used every week of the tournament and then will be dropped from the list. Since there were originally 10 listed, the final week of the tournament may or may not include both of the 2 remaining categories. Bribery of the host IS highly encouraged.

GOOD LUCK

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Here we go.....It's HUMP WEEK. Yes, the 5th week of our 9 week Fall Tournament is upon us and the "Super Geeks", formerly known as "Out of the Vortex" picked up a huge win last week and they are now 19 points ahead of 2nd place "R & R". Ralph said he is going to put something in Keith's water this week to slow him down. While I am on the subject of the 'Vortex I would like to welcome trivia virgin Nancy to the show. FINALLY Scott found someone who wants to be seen in public with him. This is a long time coming. Also a big welcome goes out to the "College Idiots" Kayla. This was her first time out also. The "Stupid MOFOs" fell into 3rd place just 2 points ahead of "Ladies Night Out".....and.....to Joyce's liking 17 points ahead of her buddy "Jack's "Bar Ks" team which is currently in 5th place just 1 point ahead of the slumping "Off Duty" which, in turn, is just one point ahead of the 7th place "Thorns-n-Roses". Hey Jackie, you better start helping "Off Duty" out or you will find yourself behind the 'Roses and it doesn't get much worse than that. Sara is not happy. "Just the 18th" is struggling in 8th place as they have finished out of the top 6 the last 2 weeks. Dawn said it is all Rob's fault. Carson agrees!
Congratulations to server Carli and her induction along with her 2002 Penn Manor PA State Champion Soccer Team into the Penn Manor Hall of Fame this week. Also server Laura turns 21 on Tuesday. Happy Birthday Laura!

Last Week's Blurbage

Well, week 2 of our 9 week tournament is in the books and the 'Vortex"Super Geeks" have been dumped into 2nd place by last week's winners, the "Michigan Man/Spare a Square" team. Yes, you read that correctly, the over-educated ones are NOT in 1st place but it is by the slimmest of margins. The 'Squares lead the 'Geeks by 1 point with "Lionel Richie" 2 points back in 3rd place overall. The deprived of a prize (due to a scoring error) "Cowbell" team is in 4th place 4 points out with "Billy's Moving Parts" 7 points back in 5th. As a matter of fact the top 6 teams are separated by 10 total points after 2 weeks. Who is that 6th place team? Why it is the Katie and Sue inspired, Bob and Irma retired "Just Dumb Luck". The "Wacky Corner" is currently floundering in 9th place. I hope Chad gets some therapy soon.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Three weeks into our Fall 2007 tournament and even though "Out of the Vortex" finished 4th last week their overall tournament lead increased from 5 points to 10 points when "Off Duty" stumbled with a lackluster performance and fell to 4th place overall. "R & R" has moved into 2nd place with the "Stupid MOFOs" right behind them. Joyce is taking complete credit for the 'MOFOs magically perfect final round last week. "Ladies Night Out" is trying to claw their way out of the basement and the "Bar Ks" have fallen into a 6th place tie with "Thorns-n-Roses". Hey Karen, that's certainly embarrassing, isn't Jan helping out at all. As a side note, a scoring error has allowed "Just the 18th" to stay in 8th place overall and Dawn has said she will assign all of the remaining mini-categories to her teammates for study purposes. Hmmm, hey Rob, do you think that Dawn will be any help?

Last Week's Blurbage

Well, the Fall 2007 Tournament here at the Barn Door has begun and I already have a scoring change to announce. I did not give credit for a correct 3rd round answer to Brian's misfits from "Billy's Thunder Thighs" team. That would have tied them for 3rd place in week one of the tournament. they will be awarded their 3rd place gift certificate on Monday night. At the moment the "Super Geeks" (formerly "Out of the Vortex") hold an early 4 point lead over newcomers the "J-Men" while "Billy's Thunder Thighs" and the dreaded 'Cowbell team are 6 points back in a tie for 3rd place after week #1 is in the books. "Just Dumb Luck" is 9 points back in 5th place and "Lionel Richie Has Left Us" is tied for 6th place with "Craig, Can You Spare a Square" (Seinfeld) just 10 points back. Thanks again for your continued HUGE support for this show as we quickly approach our 2nd anniversary here at the Barn Door.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Two weeks down, 7 to go, 'Vortex has assumed control. We had a nearly record breaking night last Thursday here at Crossgates as 155 people came out to join us for a brutal night of in your face trivia. It seems that I am always at my toughest when I have extra time to prepare due to a holiday. "Out of the Vortex" has jumped out to a 5 point lead after 2 weeks of the 2007 Fall Tournament. The 'Vortex switched places with 1st round leaders "Off Duty". Now for the scary news. "Thorns-n-Roses" is actually sitting in 3rd place just 10 points behind 'Vortex and I don't know if they can stand the euphoria that must be overwhelming them. Let's see how long it lasts. Not only that but, how humiliating it must be for "R & R", the "Bar Ks" and the "Stupid MOFOs" to be looking up at that team. The 'MOFOs had one of their better nights and Joyce, strangely enough, was not there.....hmmmmmmm! Hey, even worse, the defending champions, "Ladies Night Out", are struggling for the respect they think they deserve. They are totally shocked to find themselves in 7th place, 20 points out of the lead at this early stage. The 'Ladies like to be on top (giggle) and they are not used to being forced to play catch-up. Hey Pam, you better right that ship before it sinks. Maybe you should make Bruiser walk the plank.Your Fall 2007 Back Nine Trivia Challenge began on Thursday night September 6th.

Last Week's Blurbage

No show last Monday due to the Labor Day Holiday. You Fall 2007 tournament starts tomorrow night here at the Barn Door. I had some extra time on my hands and you all know what that means. Yes, the questions are usually quite numbing when that happens. Also, SPECIAL NOTE, I mistakenly used Wyoming as the first mini-category for the Crossgates show on Thursday night. I messed up because that category was meant to be one of the categories for Monday night at the Barn Door. In order to even out the category lists, I will be using one of the Crossgates categories for Monday night.....not that it makes a difference to some of you. My early Las Vegas handicapping shows the oddsmakers declaring "Cowbell" (6-5 odds) as the team to beat since they have FINALLY figured out how to stay with those %#!^$ Ubergeeks from "Out of the Vortex". I am also certain that Steph, Natalie and their boy toys from "Wacky Corner" will be there also, most likely 3rd place. We will have to see how creative Brian and his harem will be with their team names AND will Bob actually be a help to "Just Dumb Luck". Sue kinda shrugged her shoulders and granddaughter Katie giggled. Irma was last seen rolling on the floor in hysterics. I am not sure what all of that means but time will tell. Your Fall 2007 Back Nine Trivia Challenge begins on Monday night September 10th.
Your 10 Mini-categories will be:

Washington Redskins
Botany
Orchestra Instruments
Asian Countries
Bruce Springsteen
Fast Food
Crustaceans
Wyoming(used at Crossgates)

The mini-categories are in no particular order. One of them will be used every week of the tournament and then will be dropped from the list. LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

If it's September It must be Tournament Time. Yes, last Thursday was the beginning of our 6th annual Fall Back Nine Trivia Tournament here at Celis @ Crossgates. The favorite always seems to be "Out of the Vortex" but they seem to get stung every tournament. During the "regular season" the the much hated (I mean feared) 'Vortex wins quite often at the weekly show, then comes tournament time and their brains go on hiatus. Since the Spring of 2005 'Vortex has NOT seen the winner's circle. They have most often fallen prey to "Ladies Night Out". 'LNO has finish first in 3 of the last 4 tournaments and has to be considered the odds on favorite to win again. The only break in their streak was last years Fall tournament in which the "Bar Ks" won. Speaking of the "Bar Ks" can anyone stop Jan from winning yet another grand prize. She has won the last 3 and is shooting for her 4th. Hey Jan, the bribery apparently has been working in your favor. Wanna play "Let's Make a Deal" again? Don't count out the "Stupi MOFOs". Although they stumbled last week in their final tune-up, Joyce and her gang are going to be tough as will "R & R" and last week's winners "Off Duty". Lauren and Jackie have also offered favors. Hey Pam, are you paying attention to all of this. Speaking of bribes....."Crimson Tide".....hey Jan (wink)! Then there comes the angels from Victorias Secret. Yes, I am talking about "Just the 18th". Dawn and her gang of lovelies almost had a collective coronary last Thursday as they tied the 'Vortex for 2nd place. Dawn screamed so loud poor Lindsey is now tone deaf in her right ear. After the show Dawn was run down by a speeding Mercedes in the parking lot. CSI has been called in. The question on everyones mind was "Where were the "Tickets", those fabulous babes from Hambright and their boy toys. Well their teaching obligations may have overwhelmed them early in the school year so who knows. The Millersvile University faculty must not have the same teaching load so they have more time and so they can more easily show up. OUCH! Beth, Melanie.....you will be missed. Of course we always look forward to the classic battle between "Thorns-n-Roses", "Croma" and the "Fighting Mongooses" for that coveted 10th place spot.
Your Fall 2007 Back Nine Trivia Challenge began on Thursday night September 6th.

Last Week's Blurbage

"Castro Lives Cowbell" FINALLY did NOT finsih behind "Out of the Vortex" but they didn't beat them either. Stefan will have to be happy with a tie for 1st place at last weeks show with the virile 'Vortex. Kim said "Here Margie, Take That" to which Margie replied "I think not". Jeff and Mike were thinking Jello wrestling (actually so was Kim at that point). Meanwhile, John and his "J-Men"team stunned the crowd by finishing in 3rd place and kept "Just Dumb Luck" out of the winnings. Well, here it comes. Your Fall 2007 Back Nine Trivia Challenge begins on Monday night September 10th.
Your 10 Mini-categories will be:

Washington Redskins
Botany
Orchestra Instruments
Asian Countries
Bruce Springsteen
Fast Food

Since there are 10 listed, the final week of the tournament may or may not include both of the remaining categories. Bribery of the host IS highly encouraged.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

The "Tickets", those fabulous babes from Hambright and their boy toys, have loaded up and are now ready to dominate (don't you love it when I talk dirty) all pretenders to the trivia throne as they kicked some butt last week in the final tune-up for the Fall 2007 Back Nine Trivia Challenge here at Celis @ Crossgates. The "Tickets" led by Beth and Melanie, (they really can't stand each other) tied the "Bar Ks" last week for 1st place while pre-tourney favorite "Out of the Vortex" tied upstarts the "Stupid MOFOs" for 3rd place. Joyce insists they are the team to beat. The "Bar Ks" Jack says Joyce doesn't know what she is talking about. I am pretty certain that before all is said and done "Ladies Night Out "and "R & R" will have something to say about that. Of course we always look forward to the classic battle between "Thorns-n-Roses", "Croma" and the "Fighting Mongooses" for that coveted 10th place spot.
