I had NOT sent out a newsletter this week because of the holidays and I realized that part of what I need to mention as far as announcements is that fact that I do NOT have another show until NEXT Monday, January 5th. In case you were planning on coming out to the Barn Door tonight, the Barn Door is closed for the holidays until Friday, January 2nd. So, rest your brains and I hope to see all of you next Monday and don't forget I will have had a lot of time on my hands to devise a devilish night. I miss you guys and I would also like to take this oportunity to wish all of you the happiest of New Years.

Monday night expect a pretty full house at the Barn Door so get there by 7:30, if you can, to get a good seat, or any seat at all and make sure you bring your appetite. I do know that the "Stupid MOFOs" are going to make a guest appearance along with "R & R" and possibly "Croma", maybe more.

Losing a loved one is NEVER good but at Christmas it is even more difficult to deal with. Having lost Louie's mother in the last few weeks, I find myself having to tell you about another, even more difficult loss. About 5 years ago I met a group of people at Crossgates that called themselves the "Mercenaries". Eventually they joined up with the "Bar Flies" and the 'Flies joined up with the "2 Ks" and NOW they are known as the "Bar Ks". At that time the makeup of their team was John, Jack, Karen, Jan, Harold and Bill along with other guest stars including the original mercenaries, Tony and Lisa Mayo and their two children Tony Jr and Angela along with Steve Matroni and Jack Ramsey. Add to that the powers of Rich and Cindy Heslin and their kids, Rory and Kelsey. They then added Nicole and Brian, broke away and morphed into "Puppet Lint" and became a formidable force in the trivia world and could be often found at the Barn Door, Crossgates, Villa Nova West and Annie Baileys. Well, Rich lost his fight with liver cancer on Friday. He leaves behind his wonderful wife and 2 fantastic children who I grew to enjoy. Just being around them is always a pleasure. Rich was one of those people who, after you met and got to know him, you would walk away and say to yourself, "he is one of the nicest guys you could want to call a friend". Rich.....you will be missed!

To all of my Crossgates faithful, with Crossgates making major renovations in about a month please join me at the Barn Door on Monday nights. I would love to see you guys there and I would miss all of you terribly during the renovations. So, start coming out on Monday nights. Great food, tremendous service, excellent competition. And, they BOO "Out of the Vortex" as much as you guys do. Also, if the Barn Door lot gets full, please park in the Boro Police Department lot at the top of the Barn Door lot. However, DO NOT park in spots that say police vehicles only. That would be kinda STUPID and I can't fix STUPID.

There is a new show coming soon to a venue near you. I will hopefully be debuting a new trivia show at the Conestoga Country Club in early 2009. Yes you read that correctly. The Conestoga Country Club. It will be an evening that the Country Club is going to open to the public, something they rarely do. The Pub and Bar area will be the location and a bar food menu will be available and in the better weather we will be able to spread out onto the deck. The only difference you will experience between this show and the others is that there will be a dress code. Conestoga Country Club does NOT permit denim (Jeans to most of you) so the dress will be business casual. I want to assure you that I intend to make this a fun evening for all of you. Prizes will be on the order of gift certificates to the pro shop or something on that order. I have not worked out the details so stay tuned for further updates.

"Out of the Vortex" did their best to win ANOTHER trivia night outright BUT they just could not fend off the "J-Men" and had to settle for a tie for first place. The Flaky "Wacky Corner" finished 7 points back in 3rd place and Phil was, once again, no help to them. The news of the night was the historic 5th place finish of "KC". Yes, with only Karen and Cori out tonight (That's how they got their name - K and C, get it, hehehe, how clever), they actually finished in the top 6. I now know that teammate Kim, who was NOT there, is the obvious problem for them. Make sure you come out on the early side Monday night as we will begin to expect crossover appearances from many of the Crossgates teams. We had a mini-crossover last week with Tracy and Lori from the "Stupid MOFOs" and their entire team is expected this week, including the very goofy Joyce, along with some other teams and ALL of them are a threat to the dominance of the 'Vortex. So make sure you have fun booing the teams you love to hate and there is MORE than one. And with the Millersville break upon us will the gutless "Lionel Richie Has Left Us" make a return showing? So come out Monday nights. It is a great way to break up the Winter blues. And make sure you get there around 7:30 or so and have a good meal before the show. That will also insure that you actually get a seat. Capacity is around 100 and we have been averaging about 60 so seating might become a problem. Also, if the Barn Door lot gets full, please park in the Boro Police Department lot at the top of the Barn Door lot. However, DO NOT park in spots that say police vehicles only. That would be kinda STUPID and I can't fix STUPID. AVOID the Getty Mart lot at all costs, as a matter of fact, IGNORE the Getty Mart PERIOD.

Men's and Ladies locker rooms and showers are available. Crossgates is a non-metal spikes facility.

Hello Everyone,
Tonight's show is once again postponed. Louie's mothers funeral was Monday and he is NOT ready to return to work. In addition he lost most of his staff to graduation on Sunday. My last show for 2008 will be Monday (Dec 22nd) at the Barn Door. There is an error in my newsletter: The Barn Door is closed for the holidays from Christmas Eve thru New Years day and will reopen on Friday January 2nd. Make plans to come out to the Barn Door this Monday night. My next show after Monday will be at the Barn Door on January 5th to open up the 2009 Trivia Year. Hope to see many of you on Monday night and to those of you that I won't get a chance to see I would like to take this opportunity to say Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

Last Monday here at the barn Door they stomped on the throats of the 2nd place "Wacky Corner" by 20 points and the 3rd place "J-Men" by 25 points. Well, with the 2008 tournaments finally concluded we now get to endure the Winter blues. But, with the expected influx of teams crossing over to the Barn Door from Crossgates while Crossgates goes thru a period of major renovations, this show just might become the HALLMARK of trivia shows. Hey Curtis and Mike, are you taking notes? So make sure you get there around 7:30 or so and have a good meal before the show. That will also insure that you actually get a seat. Capacity is around 100 and we have been averaging about 65 so seating might become a problem. Also, if the Barn Door lot gets full, please park in the Boro Police Department lot at the top of the Barn Door lot. However, DO NOT park in spots that say police vehicles only. That would be kinda STUPID and I can't fix STUPID.
As for the tournament, "Out of the Vortex" took apart all pretenders to the throne including the "Wacky Corner" which finished in 2nd place. 'Vortex easily handled them by a margin of 7 points per week. 3rd place, some 16 points further back was the "J-Men" with "Phobics and Phobias" the only other true contenders finishing 4th. And, BEELIEVE IT OR NOT......."KKC" actually DID finish 5th for their 1st prize money position since the founding of trivia here in Lancaster County back in 1538 by none other than Curtis Earth. Stone tablets were used then as answer sheets. "Juts Dumb Luck" swept into the 6th and final money slot not so much by doing well but by watching "Bob's Angels" and "Don't Know Jack" totally fall apart. Part of the 'Jack's problem was the fact that the perky Zoe was unavailable for many of the shows down the stretch and Emily just couldn't pull it together for her team.This weeks mini-category will be the TV network Nickelodeon.

"Out of the Vortex" has a SUBSTANTIAL 52 point lead over the 2nd place team of "Wacky Corner" and they look poised to win this years Fall tournament in convincing fashion. The "J-Men" have fallen 7 points behind the 'Corner and are struggling to now hold on to 3rd place as the "Phobics and Phobias" gang of oddities is only 3 points behind them. By the way.....Hey "J-Men"......Balboa saw the Pacific ocean 11 years before Marco Polo was born. "KKC" has pretty much sewn up the 5th place money position. Last Week's Blurbage
Here we are heading into the final 2 weeks of our Fall 2008 tournament at the Barn Door and "Out of the Vortex" has it almost locked up, and is running away from all other pretenders to the throne. However, the 'Vortex actually LOST last week's show, for the 2nd week in a row. The honor of winning last week went NOT to the "Wacky Corner" but to the "J-Men". How's that for major news. As for the tournament, the 'Vortex holds a commanding 57 point lead over the "J-Men" with the "Wacky Corner" only 1 point further behind. The oh-so-fickle "Phobics and Phobias" have dropped to 4th place but they remain only 4 points out of 2nd place. That's a $35 difference in place value for the tournament final standings. Kim keeps reminding Bill that the money is for the baby so he better stopped screwing up. Aren't newlyweds funny. And, "KKC" has almost certainly sewn up a money position as they are solidly in 5th place. That is a poistion that they are so unaccustomed too that they may all have coronaries on the final night. AND, I repeat from last week, unless they totally fall apart, which is NOT beyond their capabilities, they will finish in a money position for the first time in trivia history. The lovely Zoe and her wackos from "Don't Know Jack" have moved back ahead of "Bob's Angels" into 6th place after the 'Angels fell down and couldn't get up last week. The entire team blamed it on Bob NOT being there but, personally, I think it was Tina's fault. Tied with the 'Angels, and still within striking distance of that final money position is the Katie inspired team of "Just Dumb Luck" but if Bob doesn't start helping out, they are doomed.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
Well, the expected downturn in attendance was certainly expected after the conclusion of a tournament but NOT like this. Eight total teams last Thursday and we fit EVERYONE into the clubhouse with room to spare. "Out of the Vortex" won, for a change. They got beat up during the tournament so this was a bit of revenge for them. "R & R" had to settle for a 2nd place tie with, get this, "Crimson Tide". Hey Jan, good job, but we missed Elizabeth. Congratulations by the way on her marriage to the Brit. To everyone, the 'Tides Elizabeth is now living in England with her hubby. And, "Team Tom" had one of their best nights in quite a LONG time as they finished 4th just 8 points out of 1st place. Missing last Thursday night and apparently NEEDING a break to mentally recover were tournament champions, "Stupid MOFOs" along with "Off Duty", "Fighting Mongooses" and "Just the 18th". Happy Thanksgiving to ALL of you and I will return on December 4th.

Here we are heading into the final 2 weeks of our Fall 2008 tournament at the Barn Door and "Out of the Vortex" has it almost locked up, and is running away from all other pretenders to the throne. As for this show, the 'Vortex holds a commanding 45 point lead over "Phobics and Phobias" with 3 weeks remaining. However, the "Wacky Corner is only 1 point further back in third place and the once feared "J-Men" have fallen 15 points farther back in 4th place. The "J-Men" have now finished 4th in 5 out of the 6 weeks so far in this tournament. With "Don't Know Jack" being a total NO_SHOW last week, "KKC" has UNBELIEVABLY moved into 5th place AND unless they totally fall apart, which is NOT beyond their capabilities, they will finish in a money position for the first time in trivia history. "Bob's Angels" have moved 5 points ahead of the plummeting 'Jack people and if Zoe's crew isn't careful, Katie and the nutjobs from "Just Dumb Luck" will move ahead of them by the end of the tournament in 3 weeks. The former Villa Nova West team of "Not Last Place" has rejoined the show and is Solidly in the 10th and final prize position and they too have the potential of sneaking up on a few teams by the end of the tournament.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
Oh Boy, It's OVER and the "Stupid MOFOs" have defended their title on a night when the "Bar Ks" had a perfect 90 point night. Out of the 9 weeks of the tournament the "Bar Ks" actually WON the most weekly events with 4 out of 9. The 'MOFOS, on the other hand, only won twice during the 9 weeks but they also managed 4 seconds and three thirds. Consistency DID indeed rule. The 'MOFOs were the ONLY team to finish in the top 6 EVERY week. "R & R" had a near perfect final night themselves as they only missed one first round question. That forced them to face the fact that they finished 1 point behind the "Bar Ks" in 3rd place for the entire 9-week period. One missed question over that 9 week, 280 question period made the difference in 2nd vs 3rd place. As for the once mighty "Out of the Vortex", the repirator giants were vanquished to 4th place. "Crimson Tide" made some noise and finished 5th with the other geriatric bunch from "Thorns-n-Roses" actually surprising everyone by finishing 6th."Off Duty" AND the "Fighting Mongooses" were no shows AGAIN costing them prizes and "Just the 18th" managed to hang on for that 8th place spot. Hey girls, you DIDN'T finish last. That was reserved for......you guessed it......."CROMA" . Thanks for your continued support and i will keep all of you up to date on the Crossgates renovation plans. See you guys Thursday night.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
Oh Boy, It's OVER and the "Stupid MOFOs" have defended their title on a night when the "Bar Ks" had a perfect 90 point night. Out of the 9 weeks of the tournament the "Bar Ks" actually WON the most weekly events with 4 out of 9. The 'MOFOS, on the other hand, only won twice during the 9 weeks but they also managed 4 seconds and three thirds. Consistency DID indeed rule. The 'MOFOs were the ONLY team to finish in the top 6 EVERY week. "R & R" had a near perfect final night themselves as they only missed one first round question. That forced them to face the fact that they finished 1 point behind the "Bar Ks" in 3rd place for the entire 9-week period. One missed question over that 9 week, 280 question period made the difference in 2nd vs 3rd place. As for the once mighty "Out of the Vortex", the repirator giants were vanquished to 4th place. "Crimson Tide" made some noise and finished 5th with the other geriatric bunch from "Thorns-n-Roses" actually surprising everyone by finishing 6th."Off Duty" AND the "Fighting Mongooses" were no shows AGAIN costing them prizes and "Just the 18th" managed to hang on for that 8th place spot. Hey girls, you DIDN'T finish last. That was reserved for......you guessed it......."CROMA" . Thanks for your continued support and i will keep all of you up to date on the Crossgates renovation plans. See you guys Thursday night.

Here we are heading into the final 4 weeks of our Fall 2008 tournament here at the Barn Door and "Out of the Vortex" is running away from all other pretenders to the throne. The 'Vortex has won ALL 5 weeks so far and they don't seem to be willing to give up on their quest for trivia domination. However, such can NOT be said for them at the Crossgates show on Thursday nights where they are getting hammered. See the blurb below for info on THAT happening. As for this show, the 'Vortex holds a commanding 45 point lead over "Phobics and Phobias" with 4 weeks remaining. However, the "Wacky Corner is only 6 points further back in third place with the once feared "J-Men" another wee 4 points behind them in 4th place. "Don't Know Jack" is holding onto 5th place (Zoe, you were missed) but, guess who is stalking them? OMG, yes, look out, here comes "KC". They have somehow managed to NOT be cellar dwellers and are currently fighting for the 5th place money position. You all know, of course, that 'KC is that team of loons (Karen, Cori, Kim.....) who relish in finishing in last place. Something has apparently gone very wrong this time. Good luck to all of you in week 6, tomorrow night.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
Well folks, this is it. Your Fall 2008 tournament here at Celis concludes this coming Thursday night and the "Stupid MOFOs" have a commanding 33 point lead in their quest to defend their Spring 2008 championship. News from the 'MOFOs: It appears as if the entire team will be entering some kind of therapy as they were terroized last week with the return of my brother James Thomas, Leadfoot's frontman, and the snorting Tracy. No not the wack-job Tracy (she is Matt's problem), the other silly blond (my brother's problem). The stunning Joyce had to hold the equally stunning Tracy(wait, did I actually just say all of that......money talks, thanks Tracy) back and prevent Tracy and Tracy from sitting together. They are so much alike it's NOT funny....snort, chuckle, snort. The real fun is taking place right behind them as the "Bar Ks" have moved into a tie for 2nd place overall with the characters from "R & R". Once again Karen and Jan are taking all of the credit. They might do even better if Jen and Shayna would show up. Hey you two, you are missed. The once intimidating geritol gang from "Out of the Vortex" has stumbled mightily and find themselves out of contention in 4th place, 47 points out of first. And, making matters even more interesting, "Crimson Tide" has managed, somehow, to keep themselves in the hunt for a money prize and they appear to have 5th place sewn up. I think the credit goes to daughter Elizabeth or else it is the fact that Jan really doesn't want another case of popcorn. Even the "Better Half", without the vivacious Sammy, has managed to keep hold of 6th place (once agian it's a youngin', the pretty AND bright Michelle) but the respirator gang from "Thorns and Roses" is lurking only 4 points behind them with one week to go. Jerry, John and Theresa kept them alive last week all by themselves and that team usually has about 53 people on it. "Just the 18th" had one of their best nights ever finishing 5th for the night. The three lovlies of Amy, Lindsey and Karen tried but they just didn't have enough. Hey, where were the rest of you. And now for the story of the week. It appears as if "Croma" has ONCE AGAIN, managed to keep that last place position that they covet so much in their hands. For the last 14 years of playing at various shows, "Croma" has proven to be the most consistent team. See all of you Thursday night for our finale. Reminder, please be as early as you can because the evening will extend longer than normal in order to distribute all of the prizes.

Another good night here at the Barn Door as we have now completed 4 weeks of our 9-week Fall 2008 tournament and "Out of the Vortex" has widened their lead to 26 points over the new 2nd place team of the "Wacky Corner". Last weeks 2nd place team of the loons from "Phobics and Phobias" have dropped 1 point further behind into third place. Meanwhile, the pretenders to the throne, the "J-Men", are again, just 1 point behind 3rd place. The oh-so-lovely Zoe has her team, "Don't Know Jack", solidly in 5th place and, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, "KC" is actually not only still in the top 10, they are holding onto 6th place in headlock fashion. Karen and Cori have managed to figure a way out of the basement, much to Kim's chagrin. Kim prefers it on the bottom. Who has fallen behind "KC" in a humiliating fashion; why, "Bob's Angels" and ............. uh oh ............. the Katie inspired "Just Dumb Luck". Her entire team was ill last week and they have now fallen backwards into 8th place overall and we only have 9 teams regularly playing. I have a feeling it is all Bob's fault!

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
Slumping attendance and chilly weather couldn't keep us from having fun last week. It was our 7th annual halloween show and MOSTLY everyone came out dressed in costume....well.....except for your tournament leaders, the "Stupid MOFOs". The very casually dressed 'MOFOs were led by super vixen Tracy who was out again to harass yours truly. She just thrives on being noticed. It's a blond thing. Joyce, of course, had her teeth sharpened for Halloween and Bird had another one of those, "this is really weird", nights. "R & R" has moved 3 points ahead of the repirator gang from "Out of the Vortex" for 2nd place overall and the "Bar Ks" fell a little farther back due to Karen and Jan's lackluster performance. I am pretty sure Jack and John were referring to trivia when they told me that. As for the Halloween show, the winners of the costume contest (no it wasn't the 'MOFOs) was the team of German sympathisers from "All Dressed Up and No One to Invade". The "Muppets Take Millersville" came out dressed as characters from Sesame Street (Burt, Ernie, Miss Piggy, the Swedish Chef and, my personal favorite, Animal and his drumsticks), they also had along their manager and human muppet, Derek. "R & Rs" Ralph and Judy came out dressed as plummeting IRAs and "Croma" invited Dominos Pizza, some cat people, a 60s teenager and a Mexican hooker to the show. Hey, "Just teh 18th" and "Off Duty", WHERE WERE YOU? Thanks again for making my 7th annual Halloween show a really fun evening.

Last Week's Blurbage
Another good night here at the Barn Door as we have now completed 4 weeks of our 9-week Fall 2008 tournament and "Out of the Vortex" has widened their lead to 26 points over the new 2nd place team of the "Wacky Corner". Last weeks 2nd place team of the loons from "Phobics and Phobias" have dropped 1 point further behind into third place. Meanwhile, the pretenders to the throne, the "J-Men", are again, just 1 point behind 3rd place. The oh-so-lovely Zoe has her team, "Don't Know Jack", solidly in 5th place and, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, "KC" is actually not only still in the top 10, they are holding onto 6th place in headlock fashion. Karen and Cori have managed to figure a way out of the basement, much to Kim's chagrin. Kim prefers it on the bottom. Who has fallen behind "KC" in a humiliating fashion; why, "Bob's Angels" and ............. uh oh ............. the Katie inspired "Just Dumb Luck". Her entire team was ill last week and they have now fallen backwards into 8th place overall and we only have 9 teams regularly playing. I have a feeling it is all Bob's fault!

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
Cool night, weather wise, last Thursday night and a light crowd, Fall is here. Hey guys, 4 days until our 7th annual Halloween show so make sure your costumes are in order. As for the 2008 Fall tournament, the "Stupid MOFOs" still lead after 6 weeks but their lead has been cut to 20 points over "R & R" and; the ubergeeks from "Out of the Vortex" are making a run and have climbed to within 21 points in 3rd place overall. As for tournament leaders the 'MOFOs, Former Als dancer turned court reporter Joyce has returned from her cruise and will be back this week. Her husband Rick agreed when Bird said he wasn't sure if that will be much of a help. Daughter Erin kinda agreed. Meanwhile, the "Bar Ks", and "Crimson Tide" just can't seem to get it together and "Off Duty" is struggling simply because Sarah has had a complete mental collapse and has forgotten how to get to Crossgates. Also, "Croma" , thanks to Broadway, has managed to moved to within 16 points of 9th place "Just the 18th", who were headed last Thursday with a guest appearance by Carson. Carson had all of the lovely whenches to himself. What a total shock it would be if "Croma" would finish in any other position but 10th and last. Add to all of that with the TOTAL SHOCK of the night when the lovely Tonya and her family actually showing up to help the "Fighting Mongooses" struggle mightily. Apparently her husband, "honeymoon's over" Sean, was of little help.

Another good night here at the Barn Door as we have now completed 2 weeks of our 9-week Fall 2008 tournament and "Out of the Vortex" holds a slim 7 point lead over the loons from "Phobics and Phobias". Meanwhile the pretenders to the throne, the "J-Men", are 12 points back. The "J-Men" tied the 'Vortex at last weeks show with the "Grunge-a-phobics Love Holes" finishing in 3rd place. The very disturbing part of the evening, especially for the possibly overrated "Wacky Corner", was the fact that not only did "Bob's Angels" finished ahead of the 'Corner but........are you ready for this.......so did "KKC". Now how humiliating is that? "KKC", after 2 weeks of the tournament, is also tied with the "Wacky Corner" for 4th place overall, just 22 points behind the 1st place 'Vortex. There seems to be a giant rip forming in the space-time continuum. Even those misfits from Fulton Bank, "Bob's Angels", are only 24 points out of first and in 6th place. "Don't Know Jack" and "Just Dumb Luck" are struggling very early in the tournament. Both of them are playing like the Philadelphia Flyers right now. And a big welcome goes out to the "Desperate Housewives". Tracy, Kathy, Karen, Kim and Lori seemed to have a lot of fun for 3 of them being Trivia Virgins. And all of that was without Tracy's evil twin Joyce being there.

Cool night, weather wise, last Thursday and a light crowd, Fall is here. Hey guys, 2 weeks until our 7th annual Halloween show so make sure your costumes are in order. As for the 2008 Fall tournament, the "Stupid MOFOs" still lead after 5 weeks but they are being snuck up on by the "Bar Ks", last weeks winners, and, "R & R". And what has happened to "Out of the Vortex"? The once feared 'Vortex has apparently had their respirators disconnected and they have fallen 33 points off the pace at the halfway point of the tournament. This is, to say the least, quite SHOCKING. And look out for "Croma"! They are on a march to finish in last place for the 11th consecutive combination of Spring and Fall tournaments, but they have competition. "Just the 18th", with the lovely Karen back in command, is making it their mission to take the last place crown away from "Croma". I have extended the tournament into Novemeber and it will now conclude on Thursday, November 13th.

With the crowd comtinuing to expand at the Barn Door and the 2008 Fall Tournament starting, things are looking up for Monday nights. We even saw the return of the exquisite Zoe of "Don't Know Jack" but she couldn't help her teammates do any better than 6th place. They start the tournament 17 points behind the first place team of......you guessed it......"Out of the Vortex", that group of chronoloically challenged members of the Interplanetary Geek Squad, led by Margie and Keith, along with Sam, Barbara, Joel and, sometimes, Peter....except on camera club night. See, I told you they were geeks. The insanity continues with that group of bizarre team names in 2nd place, none other than "Scatiphobics are Scared S#itless" followed by the "Wacky Corner" in 3rd place. The questions on everyones mind are, "Where were Chad's family" (the "Krispy Originals") AND "whatever happened to "Puppet Lint"". Welcome back to "Bob's Angels" those little devils. Pretenders to the throne, the "J-Men" finished 4th on opening night and the mainstays of LAST PLACE, "KKC" actually finished in 5th place. Something is apparently wrong in trivia world when they finish that high in the standings. Not to mentioned they, "KKC", also finished ahead of "Just Dumb Luck". Hey Katie, I KNOW you guys can do better than that. Also a hearty welcome back th the "Bunghole Bandits". Now, where in the world are Kim and Stefan?

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
Well, we are back temporarily here at Crossgates. Louie's mom is trying to hang on and I am sure we all wish the family the best. I am now extending the tournament into Novemeber and it will conclude on Thursday, November 13th. "R & R" had a near perfect night Thursday night as they only missed 1 question in the 3rd round the entire evening. The "Stupid MOFOs finished 1 point back in 2nd place and the 'MOFOs maintained their tournament lead but "R & R" has JUMPED into 2nd place ahead of the weakening "Out of the Vortex" and the confused "Bar Ks". The mystery of "Thorns-n-Roses" continues as they moved ahead of "Crimson Tide" into 5th place overall. "Croma" returned from a tournament week off and are moving up on "Just the 18th", who were strangely absent. Yes, I know they are strange but they were also among the missing last week. AND, the "Fighting Mongi" were down to a twosome last week as a communication breakdown found Sean in Middletown instead of Millersville. Meanwhile, "Off Duty" misses Sarah GREATLY. Please be reminded that we WILL have our 7th annual Halloween show on the 30th so plan and dress accordingly. NOTE: the 'MOFOs Joyce is having her teeth sharpened for that show so be warned.

"Croma" returned from a tournament week off and are moving up on "Just the 18th", who were strangely absent. Yes, I know they are strange but they were also among the missing last week. AND, the "Fighting Mongi" were down to a twosome last week as a communication breakdown found Sean in Middletown instead of Millersville. Meanwhile, "Off Duty" misses Sarah GREATLY. Please be reminded that we WILL have our 7th annual Halloween show on the 30th so plan and dress accordingly. NOTE: the 'MOFOs Joyce is having her teeth sharpened for that show so be warned.

Tonight's show at Crossgates is on but Louie is working by himself in the kitchen tonight. His father is with his mom at home. Hospice is in providing care. According to Lou, Eva's heart is working at at only 3%. There will be limited menu options, i.e., hamburgers, subs, pork bar-b-que, and other sandwiches. Please keep Eva in your thoughts and; I hope to see all of you tonight.

The crowd came back a bit last Monday here at the Barn Door. Of course we were without the devils from "KC", and, I miss Zoe from "Don't Know Jack" and where in the world is "Puppet Lint", not a peep out of them. As for last week's show, "Out of the Vortex" flexed their pre-tourney muscles and squeezed by the wacko "Kiss Someones Hair Day". And they came up with that name without gang-leader Brian in tow. Dan was filling in and his German expertise was, oh, not needed. The "J-Men" also made some noise and finished 3rd, 7 points back. But the noise they usually make is just that................NOISE. Then there is the "Wacky Corner", with Ed and Natalie back, at least for a week. They managed a 4th place finish and blamed that on the fact that Bob didn't make it to the show. Were they happy about that or did they really miss him? Hmmmmmmmm!

No show last week for the 2nd week in a row but this was something that could not be helped. Louie's mom is seriously ill and in the hospital so there was no way they were going to open last week. I have decided to extend your fall 2008 tournament into November and it will now conclude on Thursday, November 13th and we WILL still be holding our annual Halloween show on October 30th so get your costumes ready. BTW, has ANYBODY seen or heard from "CROMA"? They missed the 3rd week of the tournament. Not to worry I guess, they are shooting for their 13th consecutive 10th place finish for both the Spring AND Fall tournaments.

EMERGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Tomorrow nigh'ts show at Crossgates is once again postponed. Louie's mother is dying and isn't expected to make it through the night. Since Louie's dad runs the kitchen and his brother Wayne is one of our servers the clubhouse will not be open tomorrow. Even if Eva hangs on it would be inconceivable that they would be anywhere but with her at the hospital. Keep her and the family in your thoughts and I will see all of you next Thursday night. I have to decide whether or not to extend the tourney into November. We will still have our Halloween show on the 30th of October, so plan for that.

Well, i am back from my journey and ready to frustrate all of you, as if Bruiser and LOUIE didn't do enough of that. Thanks to Bruiser for filling in for me last Monday night and thanks also for ATTEMPTING to fill in for me on Thursday at Crossgates. Sorry for the cancellation but Crossgates apparently suffered through another bad planning LOUIE moment. Not enough staff, kitchen overwhelmed and weather didn't help, supposedly. Well i am back and ready to feast on your gray matter.
For those of you Barn Door faithful your Fall 2008 Tournament begins next Monday night October 6th, Ending - December 1st. The Crossgates tournament will now be shortened to 8 weeks.

Anemia in the trivia world apparently lives. One of the smallest crowds ever at the Barn Door showed up ( or didn't ) last Monday night. I think it was the combination of ME not being there and BRUISER being there. At least that's what I am going with. Thanks to Bruiser for filling in for me. Only 8 teams came out and "Out of the Vortex" withstood the challenges of the "J-Men" and the "Wacky Corner" and, shockingly, team "Mimi" was actually in 1st place after the first round, a feat even "KC" can't quite master. Well, you have just one week to get ready for your Fall 2008 tournament. Questions on everyones mind: Where did "Don't Know Jack" go Where were Brian, Kim, Bill, Tom and their goofy team names, What happened to the "Krispy Originals"and where in the world is "Puppet Lint" (Jim Miller's favorite team name)

Well, what can I say but bad-planning moment. Apparently the storm that blew in disrupted the ability to handle the function in the pavilion which apparently caused the show to be postponed because the function had to be moved to the clubhouse. Hmmmmmmm! Wind seems to do some not-so-good things with linen, china and glassware. So, there was no show last Thursday and, believe it or not, nothing to write about so........no blurb this week. To all of you I want you to know that we will set up the lobby starting this week, the weather is changing and it will be cool out deep on the deck. The deck will still be open for seating under cover and for the daring who like it out in the open on a crisp evening. Hey "Stupid MOFOs", that means you. Don't forget to plan your team costumes for our 7th annual Halloween show to end this years Fall tournament on October 30th. I hope to see all of you Thursday night.

Hmmmmmmm! Wind seems to do some not-so-good things with linen, china and glassware. So, there was no show last Thursday and, believe it or not, nothing to write about so........no blurb this week. To all of you I want you to know that we will set up the lobby starting this week, the weather is changing and it will be cool out deep on the deck. The deck will still be open for seating under cover and for the daring who like it out in the open on a crisp evening. Hey "Stupid MOFOs", that means you. Don't forget to plan your team costumes for our 7th annual Halloween show to end this years Fall tournament on October 30th. I hope to see all of you Thursday night.

13 teams and 68 people. The crowd here at the Barn Door is returning to its healthy numbers and that is a good thing. "Out of the Vortex" once again showed who is King of the trivia hill as they bested the "J-Men" and the "There's A Lot of Water in Delta Burke" by 4 and 7 points respectively. We also saw the return of the "Saucey Ladies". Those fine women from Scotland just love the show and they wish they had something like this on the other side of the pond. The once again Zoe-less "Don't Know Jack" finished just out of the top 3 and they were as excited as they have ever been to be that close to the money positions.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
I am not sure when this low attendance will end but at least you are all having fun. Well, some of you anyway. After 3 rounds out of nine of your Fall 2009 Tournament the standings keep changing but there is a mystery afoot. Everyone wanted to know where the *$% "Croma" was tonight. Jerry's traveling minstral show is probably the most overzealous group of people you will ever see and the show just isn't the same when they are not there, especially since it is tournament time. As for tonights show, The "Stupid MOFOs" won for the first time in the tournament and they were 4 points better than the 2nd place "R & R" which was 2 points better than last weeks perfect team, the "Bar Ks". This week the "Bar Ks' were only Jack, Karen, John and Jan. That is about 4 people short of their full compliment of teammates. "Out of the Vortex" was humbled into 4th place possibly due to the fact that their team leader and founder, Margie, couldn't make the show. She claimed to be on a profesional junket in Harrisburg. Your tournament mini-categories are listed below the blurb and they are in alphabetical order. You won't know which one I have chosen until the night of the show and then it will disappear from the list. There were originally 10 categories but only 9 weeks of tournament so you won't even be certain of the final week because there will still be 2 on the list. Also, Our 7th annual Halloween Costume show will end the tournament on October 30th so your teammates should be planning for that show now.
