The Fall 2009 Back Nine Tournament is 3 weeks away at Crossgates. There has been a change for the Barn Door. I originally intended the tournament at the Barn Door to begin in September but it will now begin in October. The dates for the tournaments are as follows:
Barn Door - Beginning October 6th, Ending - December 1st.
Crossgates - Beginning September 4th, Ending - October 30th.

Last Week's Blurbage
Well, 10 teams (for the second week in a row) and 66 people last Monday night here at the Barn Door. Katie's bunch of loons from "Just Dumb Luck" were among the missing so I sicked Danny on Don. It was apparently worth it. Wish I could have been there. "Out of the Vortex" slipped by "Off With Your Pepperoni" by 4 points and the chickens from "Lionel Richie Has Left Us" actually showed up and finished 3rd just 7 points out of first place."Don't Know Jack", led by the fearless Zoe was, unbelievably, in 4th place and they even finished ahead of the ONCE feared "J-Men." And, get this, "KC" actually showed up after a 3 week absence and, well........... Karen and Cori, claim to both have had colds. Yeah Right.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
Another huge crowd (20 teams/153 people) and that was certainly helped out by a team of 22 incoming fall students at Millersville ("MUXC - Ram Rods"). They all had a good time, especially dateless stud Jeff. The runaway winners were the pre-tourney favorites and defending champions the "Stupid MOFOs". Matt was, once again, no help, Tracy smacked him senseless for the 2nd straight week and Lisa, well what can you say about the luscious Lisa that hasn't already been said.....right Joyce. "R & R" was 15 points back in 2nd with the Better Half in 3rd place and FINALLY getting back into the top three. They were just 1 point behind "R & R". Sammy has started to put out again for her team and they are enjoying it. And, just to mention......"Out of the Vortex" finished 26 points off the pace last week. It was the 2nd straight week that the 'Vortex finished out of the top 5. Uh Oh! Everyone wanted to know, Where was "Crimson Tide"? Good question. They apparently fell asleep watching Bruce Willis movies.

Last Week's Blurbage
Well, 10 teams and 63 people was worthy of a mediocre night as "Out of the Vortex" flexed some muscle and slipped by with a 2 point victory over "Shake and Bake - Sweet Baby Jesus" and 6 points ahead of the 3rd place "Wacky Corner". Zoe ("Don't Know Jack") tried her best to flash some googoo eyes at the host but, alas, I wouldn't succumb to her charms, it was difficult. The "J-Men", with smack-em-in-the-arm Jim leading the way (which is NEVER a good thing), struggled to a 4th place finish, just holding off Katie's loons from "Just Dumb Luck". Many of you have wondered where "KC" has been and Drs Vredenberg and Kelly were wondering where Dr Smith ("Lionel Richie Has Left Us") was. They played on a new team called the "Rudy Bunch" and they said that they heard that Dr Smith's team was very good. I told them that every now and then the 'Richie people get stressed out and take some time off. It's apparently psychologically necessary for them. Sometimes the Prozac just isn't enough. By the way, in case you missed it, I announced last week that Italy was your mini-category and that was incorrect so I am going to use both Italy AND the Six Wives of Henry the VIII this Monday night. Your new mini-category for August 25th is below.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
Another huge crowd (18 teams) and I think it was because of a perceived mixup between appearances by Jenna and Barbara Bush. Hey, what happened to "Off Duty", a shocking no-show and it was on a night when "Out of the Vortex' was without their team founder.......and they got obliterated by the competition. The 'Vortex finished in 10th place, a shocking 17 points behind the winning "Bar Ks" team. Lou took all the credit, he was apparently filling in for Karen (claiming brilliance as she often does) who is on the disabled list. Jack is still scratching his head. "Thorns-n-Roses" stunned EVERYONE, even themselves, by finishing tied for 2nd with the Bruiser inspired "R & R" and Bruiser up and vanished. He never got to enjoy the trashing of the 'Vortex or the crying from the "Stupid MOFOs" who missed the money by 1 POINT. Joyce was beside herself as she blamed Tracy for all the bad answers. Then Tracy slapped husband Matt who, even now, can't figure out why. He said, "But Tracy, I didn't do anything" and she came back with "Yeah that's the point". Rick laughed, Joyce slapped him and he actually said "Hey, do that again". "Surrender Your Booty" was 5th followed by the nutballs from "Team Gallo" and the "Fighting Mongooses" right behind them. And "Croma" , the team that often gets NO respect (I call it the Rodney effect, now known as the Paula effect) came so close with their 8th place finish. The lovely Dori went completely nuts in the 2nd round and had to be restrained. It was something about the Bush girls. Even Tracy from "Thorns-n-Roses" got caught up in the mayhem.

Hello to all of my Barn Door faithful. You guys are terrific. After an anemic week the crowd came back along with some special guests. Bruiser was out and formed a team composed of "R & R" members from Crossgates and a few newbies and Mike Horn, our www.earthtrivia.com webmikester (and host of numerous trivia shows - Cafe Chuckles, Bubes Brewery, Lititz VFW), Derek and Paul from "Ubersmack" at Cafe Chuckles, Erika from "The Price is Right" at Cafe Chuckles and Nate, from the "Toxic Olives" at Bubes Brewery, came out and played as "Erika's Harem" and kicked butt. Father Fritz would be so proud. They had a near perfect 87 point night and took down the likes of "Out of the Vortex" and the "J-Men" along with the "Wacky Corner" and "As Salunga Turns". It was Daytime Soap night, you just had to be there.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
After an unusually light night for July here at Crossgates the week before, last Thursday night we saw another large crowd (16 teams, 138 players) and the weather cooperated. After a 20 minute downpour at about 6:15, the skies cleared and everything on the deck dried out and it turned into a pleasant evening. However, the evening DID NOT go so well for a couple of very good teams. Defending tournament champions and, at one time, pre-tourney favorites, the "Stupid MOFOs" have fallen on hard times lately and have now gotten hammered into submission two weeks in a row. I really think it is a collective falling down effort by Tracy, Goddess Joyce and Lisa but, the biggest problem might be Sandy. She is just not putting out like she used to and that is just not like her. New pre-tourney favorites, "Out of the Vortex" took the night, squeaking by the up and coming "R & R" as Doc Rock and Judy have returned to the fold. They tied for 2nd place with the "Bar Ks" (without the injured Karen). "Team Gallo" finished alone in 4th just ahead of the "Oil Canners"......THEN came the "Stupid MOFOs" in 6th place 8 points out of first. It was a very high scoring night for everyone. "Croma" crashed and burned and Leslie wasn't there. I think we ALL know now where the brains are on that team.

The Fall 2009 Back Nine Tournament is 4 weeks away at Crossgates. There has been a change for the Barn Door. I originally intended the tournament at the Barn Door to begin in September but it will now begin in October. The dates for the tournaments are as follows:
Barn Door - Beginning October 6th, Ending - December 1st.
Crossgates - Beginning September 4th, Ending - October 30th.

Hello to all of my Barn Door faithful. You guys are terrific. After an anemic week the crowd came back along with some special guests. Bruiser was out and formed a team composed of "R & R" members from Crossgates and a few newbies and Mike Horn, our www.earthtrivia.com webmikester (and host of numerous trivia shows - Cafe Chuckles, Bubes Brewery, Lititz VFW), Derek and Paul from "Ubersmack" at Cafe Chuckles, Erika from "The Price is Right" at Cafe Chuckles and Nate, from the "Toxic Olives" at Bubes Brewery, came out and played as "Erika's Harem" and kicked butt. Father Fritz would be so proud. They had a near perfect 87 point night and took down the likes of "Out of the Vortex" and the "J-Men" along with the "Wacky Corner" and "As Salunga Turns". It was Daytime Soap night, you just had to be there.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
After an unusually light night for July here at Crossgates the week before, last Thursday night we saw another large crowd (16 teams, 138 players) and the weather cooperated. After a 20 minute downpour at about 6:15, the skies cleared and everything on the deck dried out and it turned into a pleasant evening. However, the evening DID NOT go so well for a couple of very good teams. Defending tournament champions and, at one time, pre-tourney favorites, the "Stupid MOFOs" have fallen on hard times lately and have now gotten hammered into submission two weeks in a row. I really think it is a collective falling down effort by Tracy, Goddess Joyce and Lisa but, the biggest problem might be Sandy. She is just not putting out like she used to and that is just not like her. New pre-tourney favorites, "Out of the Vortex" took the night, squeaking by the up and coming "R & R" as Doc Rock and Judy have returned to the fold. They tied for 2nd place with the "Bar Ks" (without the injured Karen). "Team Gallo" finished alone in 4th just ahead of the "Oil Canners"......THEN came the "Stupid MOFOs" in 6th place 8 points out of first. It was a very high scoring night for everyone. "Croma" crashed and burned and Leslie wasn't there. I think we ALL know now where the brains are on that team.

"Don't Know Jack" and "Just Dumb Luck" would have had a shot at 2nd or 3rd but they didn't show up. Nobody had a shot at 1st place because "Out of the Vortex" went nuts. I think it was because the last couple of shows they got hammered and they were a little wacked out by it. Speaking of wacked out, the "Wacky Corner" did finish 2nd but they lost by 24 HUGE points and the "J-Men" finished 35 points back in 3rd place. Poor "KC" DID show up and even on a light attendance night, still managed to finish near the bottom of the pack. They are always so proud.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE
After an unusually light night for July here at Crossgates the week before, we saw the normally large crowd return (16 teams, 142 players) with some twists to the teams. "Team Tom" came back with 2 players after a months long absence and finished 4th. I can't explain it either. And, "Team Gallo" merged with the "Stupid MOFOs" in what may have been a dreadful decision for "Team Gallo". They claim the 'MOFOs really dragged them down last Thursday night. Understandable in light of the fact that the "MOFOs men were ALL absent. Hmmmmmm! "R & R", without the oldies but goodies, struggled to a 5th place finish as Bruiser and the youngins just couldn't get it together. The question on everyones mind was, "How did "Croma" do?" Well, Queen Paula apparently let King Jerry down. Marty took all of the credit for getting all of the correct answers that they had. Leslie was mostly useless AGAIN. She constantly gets confused by the colors of the tickets. It freaks her out. The top teams were "Out of the Vortex", making up for the previous weeks hammering and the "Bar Ks", making up for MANY weeks of hammerings. Add to that the surprising finish of the 3rd place team. Energized by their upcoming wedding, Tanya and Sean led the "Fighting Mongooses" to their highest finish in 47 years (yes, just like "Croma", since the Kennedy Administration).
