Tournament Update
&
Last Week's Blurbage

Well, we opened our 2nd annual Spring Trivia Challenge here at the Barn Door last week and it turned out to be a very close opening night. Thirteen teams came out and the top 6 teams finished with an 8 point total separation. Leading the way was that group of middle-aged geeks from "Out of the Vortex".....well.....some of them are well beyond the middle-aged thing but who is counting. "Just Bonin' Up", that team of young geeks, (NOT 'Vortex eligible), have made it known that they intend to bring 'Vortex to their knees and they finished 2nd on opening night. "Lionel Richie Has Left Us", the 2006 Fall champions, finished in 3rd place but vowed to make it back-to-back tournament titles. That won't happen if Sean doesn't become more helpful than he has been of late.

The interesting tidbit of the night happened in the picture round. I actually got a little evil on the gang and had a pic of MY eyes in the round. Guess what.....only 2 teams got it. Many teams thought that my eyes were those of Al Gore's. Here is the funny (or humiliating) part. Neither my dad's team ("Short People") nor my wife's team ('Vortex) figured out that they were my eyes. OUCH!

Meanwhile, "Wacky Corner" had another one of their now patented "who can we blame this one on" night's when they crashed and burned in the final round after leading the way thru the first 2 rounds. The 'Corner is now on an early tournament mission to trade members to another team. Rumor has it that they want to trade Bob to "Just Dumb Luck" for BOB but both Bob's have a no-trade clause. Hey Steph, I think they are now looking at trading you to "Don't Know Jack" for Becky.

Brian's team of misfits (you remember "Billy's ????? Underwear" from the Fall tournament) definitely has started providing us with more STRANGE team names (check out the 4th place team) and Kookie Cori of "KCCC" (that's what the KC really stands for) has already provided her teammates with more STRANGE answers.

The final night of the tournament will be Monday, April 30th, and we will award the tournament prizes on that night. The top 6 teams in total points will recieve cash prizes and one lucky person will win a special grand prize. "Wacky Corner's" Stephanie was the grand prize winner in our 2006 Fall tournament and walked away with a Kodak digital camera and printer dock. Never mind the fact that she lives next to me, paid me cash, took me to dinner and.......! Shhhhhh, Margie and my Dad still don't know.

The top 6 teams cash prizes will be:
1st Place - $100
2nd Place - $85
3rd Place - $65
4th Place - $50
5th Place - $40
6th Place - $30

Last Week's Blurbage

Like the Monday night Barn Door show, last week's show was the opening night of our Spring 2007 Trivia Challenge here at Annie Baileys and it proved to be a good night. 39 players on 7 teams came out only to watch "Hey Now" take them apart in their opening night romp to victory. Rod tried to take credit but we all know it was Barb and Cathy that made the difference. Let's see if they can keep it up.

In a TOTAL SURPRISE, "S S Millersville" also had a big night and finished 2nd just ahead of "Puppet Lint". Tony said the 'Lint people would have done much better if Lisa had been more help than what she apparently was. To that, Lisa's eyes rolled back in her head and she started screaming at Tony in her native Klingon language.

We welcomed back Mark and his "Pitt Stop" crew after a LONG absence as they finished in 4th place. That was good enough to put them in front of the "Army of Northern Virginia". The 'Army, on one of it's mystery visits, tied for 5th place overall with the multi-degreed, multi-disfunctional "Out of the Vortex". It was NOT a good night for Margie and her minions.

The final night of the tournament will be Tuesday, May 1st, and we will award the tournament prizes on that night. The top 6 teams in total points will recieve cash prizes and one lucky person will win a special grand prize. Bribery is, of course, completely........!

The top 6 teams cash prizes will be:

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

The 6th annual Spring Trivia Challenge here at Celis Clubhouse @ Crossgates is now in the books and "Out of the Vortex" and "Ladies Night Out" are already threatening to run away with this 9-week event. They have both opened up a 20-plus point lead over 3rd place "Off Duty' who themselves now have to guard against the teams right behind them. That would not have been a problem had it not been for the fact that "Off Duty" completely collapsed last week. Sara initially blamed their poor performance on her fighting off a cold but then she very quietly told me her teammates didn't help much either. I promised her I wouldn't repeat that to ANYONE. Uh-oh!

That poor showing allowed "R&R", "Crimson Tide", "Thorns & Roses", the "Bar Ks" and even "Team Tom" to, at least in these early stages, stay close to 3rd place. 10 points separates 3rd place "Off Duty" from 8th place "Team Tom" at this point in the tournament. I am sure most of those teams will be up to the challenge.....well.....maybe not "Thorns & Roses" but they sure do have fun.

The final night of the tournament will be Thursday, April 26th, and we will award the tournament prizes on that night. The top 6 teams in total points will recieve cash prizes and one lucky person will win a special grand prize. The "Bar Ks" Jan was the grand prize winner in our 2006 Fall tournament and walked away with a Kodak digital camera and printer dock. In very similar circumstances to the Fall tournament at the Barn Door, never mind the fact that Jan paid me cash, paid for my golf, took me to dinner and.......! Once again.....Shhhhhh!

The top 6 teams cash prizes will be:
1st Place - $100
2nd Place - $85
3rd Place - $65
4th Place - $50
5th Place - $40
6th Place - $30

Tournament Mini-Categories

&
See you guys Thursday night.
