Last Week's Blurbage

I know I keep repeating myself a lot but not much is changing here at the Barn Door, and that is not a bad thing, unless you look at the fact that "Out of the Vortex" completely obliterated all challengers. 'Vortex won by a whopping 15 points over the really weird group from "I See London, I See France, I See Billy Warmth's Skid Marked, Underpants". Yes Brian and his nutcases with the goofy names are back and Congress has threatened an investigation into how a "family friendly" environment has gotten so Al's Diamond Caberet-like. Family Friendly, by the way, has become so misused it's almost nausiating. And yes we had another nearly full house with "Crimson Tide" actually outperforming even THEIR own expectations as they finished 3rd. The "J-Men", "Wacky Corner" and "R & R" were humbled by the 'Vortex and Dusty again beat up Jim Miller in the parking lot for no other reason than she just likes to do that.

Last Week's Blurbage

Wow, I have debuted 7 shows so far since 2001 and this was the BIGGEST opening night to date. We had 78 total people on 15 teams and we filled the dining room. We even had two non-member guest teams. The "Stupid MOFOS" came out and played as the "Verbates" and "Out of the Vortex" came out and played as themselves.......and got booed. Kinda cool for a new place, with, what you would think would be a higher class of crowd but NO. They booed the 'Vortex, with NO prompting from me. Of course the chorus was lead by Dawn's gang from "Just the 18th" who played as "Nobody Knows". Speaking of Dawn, I can't thank her enough for bringing a trivia night proposal to the Club's board and making this entire night possible. Everyone seemed to be pleased and country clubbers can sometimes be tough nuts to crack, but the show was very well received. The food was great and the service was nothing short of spectacular. The "Beach Bums" won the night, outlasting "Out of the Vortex" by 1 point and the "Buddha Beaters" tied for 3rd place with "Arcotiri". Dawns team of misfits did NOT have a good night but they did have fun. Dawn said Rob and J R were to blame (they showed up) as well as Karen, Carson, Kathy and Lindsey.......who, DIDN'T show up. I have a feeling this show is going to be a HUGE success. Thanks to all who came out and........Dawn.......thanks again to you and the entire staff for making this work. Convey my thanks to Mark, the illustrious club manager for helping me out. See you guys next week.
