Special Trivia Show
Put This On Your Calendar

On Saturday, April 26th, from 5pm to 7pm, I will be hosting a trivia show at Crossgates to benefit the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life. The show is in memory of late Millersville University Professor Dr Steve Centola. Dr Centola was a friend and longtime faculty member at Millersville. Steve was co-founder of the Arthur Miller Society and his specialty was American Drama. There is no admission charge to this special event but I am going to try to relieve you of some of the contents of your wallets. There will raffle tickets to purchase for you to have a chance to win numerous generously donated prizes. Some of the prizes you can buy a chance for include:

A gift certificate for 4 rounds of weekend golf w/carts at Crossgates

Lancaster Barnstormers Skybox Tickets

Massage, Manicure & Facial from Bushwhackers Salon & Day Spa

1 night stay for 2 at the Old Summer House Bed & Breakfast in East Earl

1 hour massage and ear candling from Natural Healing Center in Willow Street

Golf gift basket ($250 value) from Bonnie Miller and cardinal Home Improvement

Scholars Pack including donated items from the Arthur Miller Society and other professional societies Dr Centola was associated with

We are also having someone work on Billy Joel concert tickets

Celis is going to donate a portion of their proceeds to the cause and I will match that donation. I will also have set up 2 Cheeseball size barrels for additional cash donations that I would love to have you fill. So, bring your appetites and a full wallet and help out with this worthy cause.

Last Week's Blurbage

Well, here we are. Two weeks to go in our 9-week 2008 Spring Trivia Challenge and it looks like "Out of the Vortex" is going to capture the top prize without much of a challenge. "The 'Vortex captured their 4th straight weekly top prize last week here at the Barn Door and their closest rival, "Lionel Richie Has Left Us" has done little to hunt them down. "Puppet Lint"sits in 3rd place and has to hold off "Is That Some-Kinda-Thing in Your Pants or...." with the very fickle "Wacky Corner " lurking in the shadows. The "J-Men" round out the top 6 and they to are within striking distance of "Puppet Lint" for that 3rd place money position. Further back in the pack, "Bob's Angels" have moved ahead of "Don't Know Jack" for 8th place bragging rights and "KKC" seems headed, once again, for their personal favorite 10th place for the 6th straight time.. Remember, no shopping for snacks or gas at the Millersville Mart. As much as I hate to say this, go to Turkey Hill.

Your Remaining Tournament Mini-categories are:

Food Network
Italian Cuisine
Oceanography

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Yes, just like the Barn Door we have 2 weeks to go here at Crossgates in our Spring 2008 Trivia Challenge. This is our 7th annual Spring tournament and it looks like newcomers the "Stupid MOFOs" are going to upset the heavily favored "Out of the Vortex" for the title. The 'MOFO women collectively said that they didn't miss their spouses last week (they were in Myrtle Beach). Tracy's brother Matt was in his glory as he had the women all to himself. Joyce showed off her new teeth and then the vampiress bit Lisa on the neck. She wanted to bite "Just the 18th's" lovely Karen but she was a no-show for some reason. The gang of wackos from "Just the 18th" with screech owl Dawn in command are trying to hold off "R & R" for 3rd place while the "Bar Ks" are trying desperately to hold off "Off Duty" for 5th. The 7th place team, the "Better Half" is plummeting faster than a rock in a pond as they now have to worry about "Crimson Tide" sneaking up on them. If certain teammates from the "Better Half" would perform better they might be able to do it. And it looks like "Thorns-n-Roses" is actually going to finish 9th instead of 10th. This is a HUGE improvement for that geriatric bunch.

Your Remaining mini-categories for the tournament are:

Cars & Trucks
First Ladies of the United States
Poetry

See you guys Thursday night.
