Last Week's Blurbage

Well, Happy Labor Day to all of you. As you already know we do NOT have a show tonight at the Barn Door simply because.....well.....the Barn Door is closed for the holiday. We will return on September 8th and I hope we can pack the place. Remember, your Fall 2009 Nine Week Tournament begins in just 4 weeks so sharpen up. How do you do that? Well, you come out to the show for PRACTICE. 10 teams (for the third week in a row) and 58 people last Monday night here at the Barn Door. Pre-tourney favorites "Out of the Vortex" had their way with all of you for the 2nd week in a row and kicked some royal butt with a 19 point victory over "Sew You Think You Can Trivia" with "Vandelay Industries" another 6 points back. Katie's bunch of loons from "Just Dumb Luck" returned after a week off and mamaged to finish in a tie for 4th place with "Wacky Corner". The 'Corner's BOB was later heard to say, "I just wasn't worth a lick tonight". The once mighty "J-Men" ahve been sinking faster than the John Edwards marriage and they no longer seem to be a threat to the top of the tournament heap. It was a fun night but the entire crowd is still wondering what is up with "KC". I know the "J-Men" and GARY miss them terribly.

Your Upcoming Mini-categories for September are:

September 8th - State Flags
September 15th - U.S. Rivers and Lakes
September 22nd - Computer Languages
September 29th - Holidays and Observances

GOOD LUCK

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

A light night last week here at Crossgates and I am sure it was just a night to rest your weary brains before your 9-week Fall 2009 Tournament gets underway this week. Expect a VERY LARGE turnout and this is also the week that the MU golf group comes out to play so get there EARLY for your favorite seats. Your tournament mini-categories are listed below the blurb and they are in alphabetical order. You won't know which one I have chosen until the night of the show and then it will disappear from the list. There are 10 categories but only 9 weeks of tournament so you won't even be certain of the final week because there will still be 2 on the list. Also, Our 7th annual Halloween Costume show will end the tournament on October 30th so your teammates should be planning for that show now. As for last weeks show, pre-tourney co-favorites "Out of the Vortex" AND the "Stupid MOFOs" BOTH finished out of the top three for the first time since the 'MOFOs started playing last year. I am not sure what that means but "R & R" showed some teeth and with Bruiser back, after a self imposed Time Out, romped to victory last week. Well, they didn't actually romp. They beat the "Better Half" by 2 points and the 3rd place "Bar Ks" by 4 points. The ROMP comes from the fact that ANYTIME a team beats up on the 'Vortex AND the 'MOFOs on the same night, it is an accomplishment worth mentioning. As for the 'MOFOs, their loss can be chalked up to the young, lovely Erin, hurting her back and the fifth of Captain Morgan and the bottle of Percoset turned her brain to mush so she was totally useless. Her mother Joyce, was also pretty useless but that is just her normal mode. She better pick it up for the tournament. If only Tracy would put out now and then. Then, of course, there are the "Fighting Mongooses", "Crimson Tide", "Off Duty" and "Thorns and Roses". These 4 teams don't care about winning, they just PRAY that they don't finish behind "Croma". "Croma" is the "KC" of Crossgates Trivia, especially when Leslie shows up. And, Speaking of "Off Duty", they seemed totally lost without Sarah to help them out. Also, a hearty WELCOME BACK to the "Young Bucks".

Your Upcoming Tournament Mini-Categories are:

80s Television
American History - 20th Century
Broadway Shows
Chemistry
Cheese
Famous Cowboys
Harry Potter
Ireland
Poisonous Plants and Animals
Rocky Horror Picture Show

See you guys Thursday night.

LAST WEEK'S TOP TEAMS

1ST PLACE - 79 Points - R & R
2nd Place - 77 Points - Better Half
3rd Place - 75 Points - Bar Ks
