Last Week's Blurbage

Well, we returned from our Labor Day break here at the Barn Door to a smaller than expected crowd. 10 teams and 55 people showed, I guess that is a decent night but I am so used to having more of you there. "Out of the Vortex" and the "Wacky Corner" are getting in their final tune-ups in before the Fall 2009 9-week Tournament begins in just a few short weeks as they finished 1st and 2nd, getting by the wackos from "Spangle My Banner" by 10 points. The once feared "J-Men" struggled to a 4th place finish and "Don't Know Jack" was down to a 2-person team and actually did very well with a 5th place finish. They really could use the help of Zoe who has mysteriously been absent. Even the lowly "KC" ALMOST got into the act with a 6th place tie of "Just Dumb Luck". The Katie led "Just Dumb Luck" is holding their heads in shame after suffering that fate. AND, guess what, the "Krispy Original" finished 8th with the help of my dad....well.....not much help apparently. Yes, Lefty finally showed his face again and he was quickly asked to never show his face again. The 'Krispy folk take this stuff very seriously, especially Chad and Carol. See you guys Monday night; 3 weeks until your Fall 2009 tournament begins.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Three weeks in a row we have now seen smaller than expected crowds and; with the Fall 2009 tournament entering its 3rd week I sure hope things pick up. Something absolutely amazing happened here at Crossgates last Thursday night. For only the 2nd time in the 7 years I have been doing this show, a team had a PERFECT score. Yes, the "Bar Ks" aced the night with a score of 90 out of 90 points. They all but destroyed everyone else. They were especially happy that they beat "Out of the Vortex" senseless and now they have their sights set on the 3rd place "Stupid MOFOs" who managed a near-perfect night as they missed only 1 third round question. Did I just say the 'MOFOs were 3rd? Hmmmmm! I guees that means there was a 2nd place team. Why yes there was. Also perfect in the final round and shocking even themselves was "Crimson Tide". They missed only 2 pictures in the 2nd round. Who would have guessed that the 'Tide could EVER do something like that. Faltering way back in 4th place was the "Better Half" with the Sara-less "Off Duty" finishing 5th. Ok, now hold onto yours hats. "Out of the Vortex" finished 6th. They were destroyed by 17 points. It was one of their worst defeats ever and the 'MOFOs Joyce was doing dances after the show in honor of the thrashing that the "Bar Ks" gave the 'Vortex. She just loves it when her team's perceived competition goes down.
Your tournament mini-categories are listed below the blurb and they are in alphabetical order. You won't know which one I have chosen until the night of the show and then it will disappear from the list. There were originally 10 categories but only 9 weeks of tournament so you won't even be certain of the final week because there will still be 2 on the list. Also, Our 7th annual Halloween Costume show will end the tournament on October 30th so your teammates should be planning for that show now.

Your Upcoming Tournament Mini-Categories are:

American History - 20th Century
Broadway Shows
Chemistry
Cheese
Harry Potter
Ireland
Poisonous Plants and Animals
Rocky Horror Picture Show

See you guys Thursday night.
