SPECIAL EVENTS #1

On Saturday, May 17th, Crossgates Golf Course is hosting the 3rd Annual Comet Golf Classic. It is a 1:00pm shotgun start, scramble format. Registration begins at 11:30. The entry fee is $75/person and includes your round of golf w/cart, lunch, dinner, prizes, games, raffle, silent auction, gift bag and range balls. There will be prizes awarded in 3 divisions. The divisions are Mens, Womens and a Mixed division (must have at least one female). Sponsorships are available in the following categories:

Blue and Gold: $500 - Entry fee for 4 golfers, name in the program and sign on a tee box.

Gold: $250 - Entry fee for 2 golfers, name in the program and sign on a tee box.

Blue: $100 - Entry fee for 1 golfer and name in the program.

Comet: $100 - Name in the program and sign on a tee box. This is intended for business or patrons who want to be a sponsor but do not have golfers.

Patron: Name in the program. This is for those who donate a raffle or auction item.

Entries and payment must be received by Friday, May 2nd, 2008.

Well, with the Spring 2008 9-week Trivia Challenge behind us, "Out of the Vortex" has continued their merry romp through Q&A land with a 7 point victory over "Lionel Richie Has Left Us". It was the expected light attendance night as teams took time off after 9 grueling weeks of trivia. "Puppet Lint" was mysteriously absent however and, in reference to the 'Vortex, those aged overachievers were without Marjorie which apparently meant absolutely NOTHING. They were victorious for the 7th straight week. The surprise of the night, even to themselves, was "Bob's Angels". They uncharacteristically finished 3rd. It was their highest finish EVER. Meanwhile "KC" actually, FINALLY, finished in the top 6. Of course we only had 9 teams playing so...................

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Yes, just like the Barn Door we have concluded our Spring 2008 Trivia Challenge and experienced the usual smaller crowd here at Crossgates as many teams took the night off to give their brains a rest. "Just the 18th", "Manischewitz", Off Duty" and the "Fighting Mongooses" all took the night off as did most of "Scrapple". Tracy of "Scrapple" was temporarily adopted by "Thorns-n-Roses" as her own teammates failed to show. On the winning end of the night the "Stupid MOFOs", led by Rick and Matt (Tracy's husband), (Joyce and Tracy have been dethroned) continued their winning ways by hammering "Out of the Vortex" and all others with a 12 point victory. Mysteriously Matt (Tracy's brother) and Lisa were not available. I think it had something to do with Matt wanting time alone with Lisa, like that wasn't available any other night. The "Better Half", in a rare event, finished 3rd, just getting by "Crimson Tide". "R&R", the ONLY large team that came out in force, was still licking their tournament wounds as they struggle to a 7th place finished 7th. Mama Judy is very disappointed in her youngins on the team....and.....apparently......Ralph. As for the "Bar Ks", Jack was hunting, AGAIN, and Karen was a no-show.......hmmmmmmmm!

This is a beautiful and challenging 18-hole full service public golf course located just south of the Millersville University campus at Shenks Lane and Crossland Pass. Crossgates PGA Pro Scott Vandegrift (MU Golf Team Head Coach) and assistant PGA Pro Scott Fritz are the guys to see. Call 872-4500 or visit the Pro-Shop for info on tee times, rates, lessons or bang a few buckets of balls on the driving range. Men's and Ladies locker rooms and showers are available. Crossgates is a non-metal spikes facility.
