Last Week's Blurbage

Here we are heading into the final 2 weeks of our Fall 2008 tournament at the Barn Door and "Out of the Vortex" has it almost locked up, and is running away from all other pretenders to the throne. However, the 'Vortex actually LOST last week's show, for the 2nd week in a row. The honor of winning last week went NOT to the "Wacky Corner" but to the "J-Men". How's that for major news. As for the tournament, the 'Vortex holds a commanding 57 point lead over the "J-Men" with the "Wacky Corner" only 1 point further behind. The oh-so-fickle "Phobics and Phobias" have dropped to 4th place but they remain only 4 points out of 2nd place. That's a $35 difference in place value for the tournament final standings. Kim keeps reminding Bill that the money is for the baby so he better stopped screwing up. Aren't newlyweds funny. And, "KKC" has almost certainly sewn up a money position as they are solidly in 5th place. That is a poistion that they are so unaccustomed too that they may all have coronaries on the final night. AND, I repeat from last week, unless they totally fall apart, which is NOT beyond their capabilities, they will finish in a money position for the first time in trivia history. The lovely Zoe and her wackos from "Don't Know Jack" have moved back ahead of "Bob's Angels" into 6th place after the 'Angels fell down and couldn't get up last week. The entire team blamed it on Bob NOT being there but, personally, I think it was Tina's fault. Tied with the 'Angels, and still within striking distance of that final money position is the Katie inspired team of "Just Dumb Luck" but if Bob doesn't start helping out, they are doomed.

LAST WEEK'S BLURBAGE

Well, the expected downturn in attendance was certainly expected after the conclusion of a tournament but NOT like this. Eight total teams last Thursday and we fit EVERYONE into the clubhouse with room to spare. "Out of the Vortex" won, for a change. They got beat up during the tournament so this was a bit of revenge for them. "R & R" had to settle for a 2nd place tie with, get this, "Crimson Tide". Hey Jan, good job, but we missed Elizabeth. Congratulations by the way on her marriage to the Brit. To everyone, the 'Tides Elizabeth is now living in England with her hubby. And, "Team Tom" had one of their best nights in quite a LONG time as they finished 4th just 8 points out of 1st place. Missing last Thursday night and apparently NEEDING a break to mentally recover were tournament champions, "Stupid MOFOs" along with "Off Duty", "Fighting Mongooses" and "Just the 18th". Happy Thanksgiving to ALL of you and I will return on December 4th.

This is a beautiful and challenging 18-hole full service public golf course located just south of the Millersville University campus at Shenks Lane and Crossland Pass. Crossgates PGA Pro Scott Fritz is the guy to see. Call 872-4500 or visit the Pro-Shop for info on tee times, rates, lessons or bang a few buckets of balls on the driving range. Men's and Ladies locker rooms and showers are available. Crossgates is a non-metal spikes facility.
